zas: Indeed only “edit #nnnnnn” is recognized as an edit link.

It’s not obvious to me how that could change. It’s interpreted when loading the edit note, and we don’t know what language it is written in.

Also, I think there is no general consensus to allow non-English edit notes at all.

There are longstanding plans for MB, too, but as usual …

with edit notes, the idea has always (or at least for quite a while) kinda been "prefer English but not force it if a user isn't fluent", and I imagine that is even more so now that the interface is translated so that people who don't actually speak any English can use MB too

chirlu`: this is what i was worried about, imho we should use perhaps find a way to have better i18n of edit notes. I see no (good) reason to have english-only or english-preferred edit notes while the rest of the website is supporting various languages.

I came to the issue with Edit #num while testing the french version. And this one is more a dev thing than a translator thing.
