      • ruaok
sure looks that way to me.
      • chrisskye
here I was trying to imagine how they were using the modern apps for home ambient control...and music...
      • They appear to be a very new HIGH END custom homebuilder.
      • ruaok
get some money from them for spamming. :)
      • chrisskye
I suppose these control systems...I’m sure they can integrate/control music as well as climate control...but it must be the app/control system developer not the homebuilder that would be into that tech stuff...
      • ruaok
they did provide an address and more complete info than others.
      • maybe it isn't spam.

yeah...I don’t know a lot about ‘SmartHomes’...but I’m thinking at some point the developers of the system might need music metadata for home entertainment controls?
      • Thoughts?
      • ruaok
        yes, that is plausible.
      • though I dont understand why they wouldn't just partner with sonos.
      • chrisskye
        that was my next question...
      • that the part that would allow an owner to somehow integrate his collection or a cloud collection of music...would be a separate 3P...
      • ruaok
if I were doing it, yes.
      • not sure what these people are up to.
      • chrisskye
hmmm...the richest person I know (rich because she developed software that is used in the oil and gas industry) doesn’t have a home with that level of tech...
      • The first time I heard of anything like it...at a residential level, was from a small time developer...rich-ish...but in that naive/stupid person way

      • Freso: so it seems to me the plugin is installed and running
      • chrisskye
...so if 2 people with chips walk into the same room the system has to make a discretionary choice as to what to play to best suit the 2

the api documentation of lb at https://listenbrainz.readthedocs.org/en/latest/... doesn't seem to reflect the current code. at https://github.com/metabrainz/listenbrainz-serv... the parameter is called "count", but RTD still shows "limit", which doesn't work
      • ruaok
        heh.
      • Mineo: PR please. ;)
      • but that is also the reason why the docs are not official yet.
      • I also need to document the rate limit stuff that just got merged.
      • Mineo
the docs in api.py are correct, it's just that for some reason RTD doesn't have the most recent ones
      • Quora joined the channel
      • my guess is that either a build on RTD failed or the RTD hook on github is not set up correctly

The address of this Homebuilder... is a small office building in China town. The name of the founder/contact given appears to be Pakistani... There is a LinkIn profile created for a “venture capitalist” in Vancouver by that name...or, there is a young drug trafficker there by that name...or an IT guy in marketing firm.. Anyhow... ruaok: great, thanks
      • since I'm hitting the LB api at the moment: what are the rate limits?:)
      • ruaok
        none.
      • the code I finished is not deployed yet.
      • given the timestamps fiasco and armalcolite's API import PR, we're likely going to wipe the DB and start over again.

        timestamps fiasco?
      • Gentlecat
bitmap: any ideas (careful, file is large) https://gist.githubusercontent.com/anonymous/18...
      • ruaok
the timestamps that are shown on the web page do not have second accuracy. Minute accuracy, I think.
      • fetching from the API gives second accuracy.
      • and this leads to duplicate keys in cassandra.

      • " I am interested in acoustic fingerprinting and how it works with TV commercials"
      • How are the two related?
      • ruaok
companies like BMAT do TV monitoring.
      • using acoutstic fingerprinting. to both see if music has been played and paid for.
      • and that if a company pays for show a commercial so many times as such and such a time, they will verify that.
      • kosmasK
SHAZAM also is another example that uses audio fingerprinting for song recognition
