we've managed to cut down the load pretty substantially by adding a CloudFlare cache, and we're working on additional software changes to cut it down further

rcombs: Ok, sounds like a plan. I can't say anything about the AcoustId servers and how they currently deal with this as I'm not directly involved with AcoustId, my concern is more about the effect on MusicBrainz Picard users who have been complaining about this ;)
