Leo_Verto: radio! (eg together with the "artist" tuff)
2016-12-12 34725, 2016
chirlu
So, on JIRA (already before the upgrade), it is possible for users to vote for particular tickets.
2016-12-12 34731, 2016
CatQuest
(ie do you work for a label, radio etc)
2016-12-12 34735, 2016
Leo_Verto
ah
2016-12-12 34716, 2016
chirlu
For others (except admins), only the number of votes for a ticket is shown, but not who left the votes.
2016-12-12 34720, 2016
chirlu
I propose to change that.
2016-12-12 34733, 2016
CatQuest
question: why?
2016-12-12 34754, 2016
chirlu
Question: Why not? Why should it be secret that I support ticket X?
2016-12-12 34722, 2016
CatQuest
perhaps to dissuade people from doing lal "why didn't you vote for x!!" etc
2016-12-12 34737, 2016
Freso|laptop
Is there any value gained in knowing exactly who voted for a given ticket?
2016-12-12 34737, 2016
ruaok
I don't see a problem with showing who voted for tickets
2016-12-12 34743, 2016
CallerNo6
Makes sense to me. If somebody votes, but doesn't comment, at least you'd know who to ask when looking for comments.
2016-12-12 34744, 2016
LordSputnik
chirlu: why is it useful to know who voted for what?
2016-12-12 34751, 2016
CatQuest
Freso|laptop: that's what i was thinking
2016-12-12 34756, 2016
LordSputnik
CallerNo6: ah, that I guess is useful...
2016-12-12 34723, 2016
chirlu
One example (that prompted me to propose this):
2016-12-12 34724, 2016
Freso|laptop
I don't see a problem with not showing it either. CallerNo6, how often has that been an issue?
2016-12-12 34738, 2016
CatQuest
CallerNo6: LordSputnik true, but on the other hand perhaps people would want not to be bothered with question about all the tickets they've voted on
2016-12-12 34743, 2016
Leo_Verto
also for example I assume everyone who voted for OTHER-261 actually wants stickers :P
2016-12-12 34755, 2016
chirlu
There was an MBS issue that I didn’t understand. Somebody voted for it, so obviously *they* had understood what it was about.
2016-12-12 34708, 2016
chirlu
But since I didn’t know who it was, I couldn’t ask them to clarify.
2016-12-12 34734, 2016
CatQuest
you asked on the ticket though, and that wwould have prompted whomever to reply if they wanted to
2016-12-12 34750, 2016
chirlu
And if people don’t want to be bothered, they don’t seem so into the ticket that they should have voted in the first place …
2016-12-12 34754, 2016
ruaok
I see chirlu's point.
2016-12-12 34712, 2016
CatQuest doesn't really agree
2016-12-12 34717, 2016
chirlu
When someone comments, that’s public, too.
2016-12-12 34731, 2016

Freso|laptop, I think it has a /potential/ use if not an /urgent/ one :-)
2016-12-12 34733, 2016

(Not only the comment itself, but the identity of who commented, too.)
2016-12-12 34737, 2016
CatQuest
i've voted for *a lot* of tickets over the years. i don't want peopel to start hounding me for reasons why i voted for a ticket (or not)
2016-12-12 34738, 2016
reosarevok definitely would like all votes to be open, but then, I'd like many things to be open :)
2016-12-12 34712, 2016
CatQuest
chirlu: yes but like voting, it's optional, and already obvious that it's going ot be visible
2016-12-12 34740, 2016
CatQuest
do everyone who's voted on every ticet understadn that this will show?
2016-12-12 34745, 2016
reosarevok
I always thought votes were visible to everyone
2016-12-12 34752, 2016
chirlu
We could announce a change on the blog and give people, say, two weeks time to remove votes they don’t want to be seen with.
2016-12-12 34752, 2016
CatQuest
(and also what ticets *havent* been voted on)
2016-12-12 34759, 2016
reosarevok
Didn't realise it's just an admin thing
2016-12-12 34722, 2016
CatQuest
how do yousee what you've voted for?
2016-12-12 34735, 2016
Freso|laptop
CatQuest, you can search/filter for that.
2016-12-12 34749, 2016
Freso|laptop
I think I can make one that works for whomever is logged in you can use.
2016-12-12 34752, 2016
CatQuest
i mena, i don't *really* care, i just don't want peopel to like. bother me about why or why not i vote for a jira ticket. if i want to talk about it i will comment
2016-12-12 34752, 2016
reosarevok
So non-admins don't get a clickable number of votes?
2016-12-12 34702, 2016
chirlu
Of course, I agree that people should not be pressured into voting/not voting for something. If someone tries that, we should tell them off.
2016-12-12 34722, 2016
chirlu
reosarevok: No, only a non-clickable number, but it’s configurable who gets what.
2016-12-12 34747, 2016
CatQuest
how about only being visible to people who have accounts?
2016-12-12 34700, 2016
CatQuest
that's like on mb proper
2016-12-12 34703, 2016
Freso|laptop
That can probably be done.
2016-12-12 34720, 2016
chirlu
That would be fine for me.
2016-12-12 34735, 2016
chirlu
Since I have an account. ;-)
2016-12-12 34704, 2016
CatQuest
well genreally people who have accounts eithe report bugs or wrk on bugs s oit woudl be thme that cares about who votes for what.. i guess
2016-12-12 34750, 2016
chirlu
So, proposal: 1) blog post to announce the change, 2) two weeks later, make votes visible to users with an account.
2016-12-12 34707, 2016
reosarevok
I'm not even sure we need to announce the change
2016-12-12 34716, 2016
reosarevok
But we haven't had many blog posts lately, so I guess why not :D
2016-12-12 34744, 2016
Freso|laptop
Or maybe just make the change and announce it at the same time, if we're going to make the change.
I'd say it's better to announce since thing that was private before is not going to be private anymore
2016-12-12 34748, 2016

also how familiar with mjority of artists.. that I .. might be you start of with more known stuff nd gradually start "adopting" pet artists and later just do things "for hire" (myself case in point) perhaps a mosre scope-y question: like give a short summary of what kinds of artist(s) you've added (what did you addfirst, what are you adding now, what are you going to add in the future, etc)

2016-12-12 34714, 2016
CatQuest imagines all sorts of coloured stars that mean different things to different people (but why not, i'dliek to rate some song as 5 stars of "I love this song" and another 4 stars of "this is a really emotional" (and that's why i like it))
