Hey, does anyone here have Mac OS. Need a small help.
I've tested this program to work on Ubuntu and Windows. Need to confirm that it does on Mac. Here's the link http://pastebin.com/CLV01ZTP

ruaok: have you confirmed that the cron/replication stuff on musicbrainz-docker worker?
*works

ruaok
not recently, no. having problems?
alastairp
yes. in that it isn't working at all
this is one of the things that I changed from the repo
if I use docker-compose run /replication.sh, it works. if I docker run bash, then run it, it works
if I add a cron entry to run /replication.sh and run cron, it doesn't trigger the job
I suspect it's something to do with cron, not the actual replication

how many fewer cores do the app servers have?
4 I guess
alastairp
ruaok: oh never mind. it was my fault in the end. forgot that cron runs with a clean env
that'll teach me for deleting stuff that I thought was uneeded :-P
ruaok
alastairp: working now?
alastairp
give me 5 minutes to confirm, but I think so
ruaok
for the vm, not musicbrainz-docker, there are cron/replication related scripts.
bin/replicate now
bin/replicate stop
bin/replicate start
alastairp
this is docker only
now I understand why the config has some stuff which I thought was a little convoluted
I have some ideas about how to make it clearer. I'll think them through and try and submit a PR
ruaok
k
I got side-tracked from working on VM stuff today. tomorrow.
bitmap: wrt to fewer cores...

our old servers had dual procs, always.
alastairp
ruaok: yep. all fixed. sorry for false alarm
ruaok
the older ones didn't have hyperthreading and only 8 cores.
so 8 real cores for those. for a lot of our current servers we have 4 real cores, 4 virtual cores.
but everything is faster and more modern. I can't even tell if we're comparing apples to oranges, really.
bitmap
yeah, I'm not sure how significant this is
ruaok
I *think* it is safe to assume that each of our new servers is more powerful than the old servers, save perhaps totoro.
