arthelon: what sort of errors?
It seems to be a pain to update
We could look into switching to yarn

Hi there! Is there any server outage / issue right now? I've got a lot of errors when trying to fetch data from the API using https://github.com/alastair/python-musicbrainzngs/ (<urlopen error [Errno -2] Name or service not known>)
I suspected a isconfiguration on my side, but the code itself had worked for months so this is surprising

Mineo
Eliot, that error suggests the machine you're using can't resolve musicbrainz.org (or whatever hostname you've configured through `set_hostname`) via DNS - can you do something like `host musicbrainz.org` or `nslookup musicbrainz.org` or whichever tool you have available on that machine?
Eliot
You seem to be right, in fact the code is running from within a docker container
and it looks like a DNS resolution issue, I feel so stupid :p

Eliot: you can use --dns option for the docker run command (or the equivalent if you use compose)
Protab is now known as Rotab
Eliot
zas: yeah, thanks ! in fact, I think it was because I use my own local DNS resolver and I may have failed at configuring it proprely somewhere. This is strange, beacuse my other containers usually don't fail with such errors when they try to resolve, it's only happening with this particular project of mine.

I've blocked that key now zas, so we'll see if it makes any difference
zas
Ok, I'm interested in the effect of any

KodeStar
I mean in the grand scheme of things I'm not sure how much difference it will make, it will be nothing like removing exodus and salts, they accounted for 15 out of 16 billion requests a month
how are you finding hetzner by the way? How long have you been on their hardware now?
when exodus and salts first started using the API, they had a bug where they were smashing the API, at one point all 3 servers were running flat out at 2.5gbps each, so like 7.5gbps, so they asked me to limit to 1gbps because that is what they guarantee
I dont need all 3 any more though

Hetzner is good, they are reactive, servers are good enough for the price, we have currently some issues with some new amd ryzen servers, but Linux vs new hardware is an old story, so far nothing much to complain about

I've not had any issues with online.net, but SYS have been a bit of a pain, I'm moving my last 2 sys servers to online atm
I'd say 300TB of that was over 2 servers, which cost me 15.99/mo each, so 31.98/mo, with hetzner that would have cost me 92.82/mo for their cheapest servers + they have a 30TB cap each, so the total would have been 426.42/mo vs 31.98/mo lol
they charge 1.39 per TB over

bandwidth is expensive in germany.
that does not only apply to servers, but to any mobile traffic aswell.

I've nothing against Hetzner, they seem a decent company
