antlarr: so, I'm one of those bad bad open source people. I use a mac. Do I need to find a linux lappy running KDE before I turn up at Akademy?
antlarr
ruaok: hehe, I think it wouldn't be the first time someone uses os x for a keynote
ruaok
I bet. but I'm trying to be a good citizen....
antlarr
in any case, I'm sure you'll use KDE after Akademy :P
ruaok
that may actually be the case. this is my last mac.
antlarr
I have to admit I actually had a macbook some years ago, but I installed linux on it :)
ruaok
I may just use a browser to present and then I can keep my laptop hidden. maybe just keep it in BCN. :)
antlarr
hahaha
ruaok
I just have battlescars of running linux on a laptop 20 years ago.
and after continually losing half days to "fixing" my laptop, I wanted a system that just works. And the Mac does that quite well.
antlarr
alternatively, you can install some kde app in your osx, so people at least see some kde icons in your desktop
ruaok
lol
antlarr
yes, that's the problem with Apple, they do stuff that work :)
in any case, these days there aren't too many problems with linux on laptops, at least not with openSUSE ;-) . Just be sure it only has the integrated graphic chipset if you don't want to waste time with nvidia and check before buying that the wireless chipset is supported
