Leo_Verto: are you keeping on top of GDPR issues and and what it takes to comply?
I've compiled a preliminary doc that outlines a "GDPR landing page for metabrainz". It lists the key points and how we comply with them.
zas
samj1912: yes, it seems scripts aren't executed or i miss smt
ruaok
including a TODO list of what we still need to do. I need someone to review my initial list before asking for more feedback... I'm wonder if you'd be a good candidate for that.
samj1912
weird. Can you possibly do a git bisect?
Leo_Verto
I don't remember volunteering for that but I'll read up on what we need to do, although a lawyer would probably be more qualified than me :P
I wonder how relevant the "forget me" requirement is to the factual data we store about artists?
zas
samj1912: does it work for you ? how do you test ?
samj1912
Not near my laptop currently, but the easiest way to test would be to change certain tag values
I tested kepstin 's PR extensively.
Seemed to work.
Again, setting and unsetting unsupported tags will ofcourse not work
and searching faq in the wiki downloads a file named FAQ to my computer o_O

yeah, it would be good to have a caa faq to direct people to instead of repeating the same answers
darkhorse is now known as vishichoudhary

bitmap: I get the impression that we use google analytics only for figuring out minimum browser requirements. do you use or know of anyone who uses that for other purposes?
bitmap
the browsers reqs. are the only reason I've ever logged onto it at least - I can't think of any other uses it's had in the past
ruaok
Given the GDPR requirements, I'm inclined to finally give GA the heave-ho.
Leo_Verto
well, it should be possible to get the user agents from nginx logs
bitmap
the traffic stats by country etc. are certainly interesting but we don't use them
ruaok
zas: how hard would it be to add a top User-Agents analysis to the mb-top-stuff?
Leo_Verto
weren't there talks about using piwik instead?
ruaok
Leo_Verto: exactly. and eventually we want our own analytics platform.
yes, exactly. we've never found a good solution. we have a lot of traffic, and that means we have a lot of logs to process. we fit into this uncomfortable spot that we're too big for a simple setup, but too poor for a proper setup.
bitmap
(also, extracting the browser stats from GA is even a pain 'cause their UI is abysmal, so a custom solution could actually be nicer)
ruaok
but, Leo_Verto that was exactly the sort of feedback I was looking for on that doc. thanks.
we're going to be supporting IE11 for a while (it has 4.91% usage share), so updating the browser stats every 6 months isn't super useful - if we need to remove GA right away I think it's fine

Freso
loujine: Go instead then while Leo_Verto gets ready? :)
Leo_Verto
Well, I followed up on the April Fool's joke and ended up getting some valuable ideas for the real recommendation system in the process
Freso
Ah.
CatQuest
(always suggest atleast one rick roll somewhere)
ok maybe not that
Leo_Verto
Other than that, spent way too much time playing reddit's CircleOfTrust and way too little learning for my last exam
Read a couple papers regarding user recommendation and mailed one author to ask for access to their code
fin.
(usually I have my review typed out by the point I'm called :P)
reosarevok: go!

Leo_Verto
are you doing the review or is your autocorrect? :P
reosarevok
So, support, mostly, plus a bit more work on secret code project
I know a lot of people have wanted this so I hope people now will also help move the ones credited with "basso de gamba" (and similar) from https://beta.musicbrainz.org/instrument/be34e4e... (I did the first 3 pages)
there are 40 pages left to do, but there are on average 3-5 or so entities of "bass" on each page (people are of course welcome to check the others too, but :'D)
Something I forgot to ask last time: I need various language names for "guitar family"
German, Greek, Finnish, French, Japanese, Dutch, Polish and (Brazilian) Portuguese
I know we have members in most of these languages so I'm hoping for replies either here or on Freso's community post
FINALLY started working on OTHER-327 (that is the instrument blog-post I had half or so finished aaages ago (sorry :( for the wait))
Last week I poked at reported editors, had a meeting with Y-Vonne (who is not present at today's meeting), gave my opinion on MBS-9660, and generally tried to stay as on top of things as I could while lying in bed most of the time.
