        Hi.
      • 2019-09-16 25936, 2019

      • iliekcomputers
        listenbrainz-labs uses python3.4
      • 2019-09-16 25919, 2019

      • iliekcomputers
which is not supported anymore and has a pretty borked subprocess module (which I need for the spark jobs control)
      • 2019-09-16 25958, 2019

      • iliekcomputers
should we cargo-cult docker-python (https://github.com/metabrainz/docker-python/blob/…) into the spark dockerfile?
      • 2019-09-16 25929, 2019

      • iliekcomputers
because the spark dockerfile has oraclejdk as base, which is on debian jessie which doesn't have newer versions of python.
      • 2019-09-16 25925, 2019

      • alastairp
all of our other base images build python from source so I don't see a problem doing the same for -labs
      • 2019-09-16 25937, 2019

      • iliekcomputers
alastairp: is there any way to avoid copy-pasting the entire docker-python dockerfile into the labs dockerfile? :(
      • 2019-09-16 25952, 2019

      • alastairp
        not that I'm aware
      • 2019-09-16 25900, 2019

      • iliekcomputers
        hmm.
      • 2019-09-16 25917, 2019

      • alastairp
you could try and do multi-part dockerfile and use COPY to move the python binary + libs from one of our prebuilt images
      • 2019-09-16 25923, 2019

      • alastairp
but that sounds like it's asking for trouble
      • 2019-09-16 25932, 2019

      • iliekcomputers
yeah, i *think* baseimage is on ubuntu, while oraclejdk is on debian, so it'll probably cause problems.
      • 2019-09-16 25904, 2019

      • alastairp
it might be worth looking at what is the easiest to install
      • 2019-09-16 25923, 2019

      • alastairp
how many lines does oraclejdk take to install?
      • 2019-09-16 25949, 2019

      • iliekcomputers
        not sure
      • 2019-09-16 25901, 2019

      • iliekcomputers
i had a discussion with ruaok about this a few months ago, and his opinion was that we should keep oraclejdk as the base image.

What about the duplicate entries? Would it be possible to dedupe? that would make the pages a bit more usable
      • 2019-09-16 25906, 2019

      • ruaok
hmm. good point. from this perspective they are dupes, but there is something subtly different about each of the entries.
      • 2019-09-16 25926, 2019

      • ruaok
I think I need to fix the sort order first, then examine the data and make sure the dupes are ok to ignore.
