sorry, I misunderstood what you meant
      • any mediums you add to an existing release should be immediately visible, so Picard will see them
      • eharris
That would mostly work if I had an easy way to pull the tags from one cluster of my collection as that textual representation I could just paste into the track parser
      • but I don't know of a way to do that
      • (from a "cluster" in Picard I mean)
      • bitmap
my suggestion was to use the add-cluster-as-a-release plugin to submit the cluster as normal, then copy it from there
      • you wouldn't actually be submitting another release, just copying the tracklist from the website and pasting it into the release you added for disc 1
      • a plugin to create a text version of the tracklist directly in Picard would be nice, I'm not sure if one exists
      • wait, that's already builtin. I totally forgot that was added
      • right-click the cluster -> Info
      • eharris
Oh, I think I see what you mean. Use the plugin but don't submit it. Then copy it over into a new one added to the existing release. That could work
      • bitmap
        yeah
      • eharris
Does the text representation contain everything that gets entered by the plugin?
      • bitmap
though if your version of Picard is recent enough, it should show you the text version of the cluster already in "Info"
      • eharris
Next time I hit a multidisc set that isn't in the db, I'll definitely try that
      • bitmap
and no, it only contains the track number, title, artist, and duration
      • eharris
        I'm using version 1.2
      • hmm, looks like I am quite out of date.
      • 1.3.2 seems to be current
      • bitmap
I suppose as far as discs are concerned, "number, title, artist, and duration" is all the plugin submits anyway.
      • so I guess that's actually a yes
      • ah, I'm using a 1.4 dev version. if it's not in 1.3, you can try a 1.4 build from https://picard.musicbrainz.org/downloads/

      • eharris
Ok, I upgraded to 1.3.2. Checking now to see if any config stuff needs to be changed before I test it on a few albums.
      • Speaking of your last comment, is there an easy way to update durations of a whole album? Every once in a while I come across one that has no durations and want to update it but I couldn't find an easy way to do that from picard, at least on my old version. I guess I should check if the new one has something for that first.
      • reosarevok
Maybe there's something better, but for some definitions of easy: you can do similar as to the multiple disc thing
      • Import cluster, copy the tracklist from the track parser, paste it on the existing release, and make sure to select only "use track times" or whatever it says exactly (but no titles, artists)
      • eharris
Hmm, I didn't think you could easily edit multiple tracks, just enter new ones, but maybe it works. Will try and see
      • bitmap
yeah, that's what I was thinking

eharris: I think you could use beets mudic organiser to solve some of your problems. If you set it up in the right way, it can automatically update thr tags for any Picard-tagged music on a regular basis
      • Then you don't have to remember to come back to it later

I tried changing my email on the wiki, but it responded with "Unknown error in PHP's mail() function."

Servers will be arriving soon! This brings a pressing question: what server names will we use?
      • drsaunders
        still cartoons?
      • ruaok
        Band names.
      • Db server will be: Bowie.
      • drsaunders nominates Sloan
      • We need a pair of gay/lesbian performers. We had Carl/Lenny and Ernie/Bert. (For the gateways)
      • drsaunders: add it to the server name wiki page in a new section.
      • Freso|laptop
        Eminem/Elton
      • >_>
      • drsaunders
        Cake/Invoice
      • Leo_Verto
        Mercury/Bieber?
      • ruaok
They need to be a pair, just like Carl/Lenny and Ernie/Bert.
      • Bieber, lol. :+)
      • Lotheric
        Hall and Oates :p
      • Freso|laptop
Cake/Invoice is a pair? I'm not sure how Mercury/Bieber are related, but Eminem/Elton performed together at one point, after which Eminem said he wouldn't have done so if he'd known Elton was gay.

      • LordSputnik
Bowie and Freddie could go together since they did Under Pressure. But Bowie wasn't really gay
      • Simon & Garfunkel goes well but again, not gay

Zas: you name the px61. :-)
      • LordSputnik
drsaunders: neither of them seem to be :P
      • We should name one of them Kroeger to show we have a sense of humour
      • ruaok
