Leo_Verto[m]: quick note, nothing makes me quit a quiz faster than a mandatory question
      • if i cn't fill it out then i cant fill it out
      • for whatever reason, if it's not apliable/don't know/don't understadm, I'd rather not fill it out thn give a (wrong) answer
      • else generally, one fills in every single option
      • instead have it be like "why did you not answer that: explain: and a text field"
      • SothoTalKer
ZaphodBeeblebrox: did you look at the survey draft? ^-^

      • SothoTalKer: uh ಠ_ಠ

Pah - 2004 - that's nothing (in a yorkshire accent). I can remember when I was a lad, I had t' chisel my metadata int' tablets of stone. Aye. And using my head as a hammer. But you know what? Young people today will never believe us.

Ah, nothing much to report this week, fixed a high priority bug in picard, and reviewed PRs, had exams (still on, 2 left)

        Hi.
      • This week, I fixed up the PR I had sent fixing LB-152 (https://github.com/metabrainz/listenbrainz-serv...) and it got merged :)
      • BrainzBot
LB-152: Import in Beta creates too many listens / duplicates https://tickets.metabrainz.org/browse/LB-152
      • iliekcomputers
But... It seems like there is something more wrong with the schema changes we've done, which I found out as I wrote a test for users with special characters in their names
      • Sophist_UK
        Hi all.
      • iliekcomputers
That is not ready to be shown yet, because I haven't investigated what causes the bug (finals and all, started today).
      • That's it for me, fin.

      • This last week of April I mostly focused on getting the Community Recap series started again. And this morning at 10 AM UTC, it was published: http://blog.musicbrainz.org/2017/05/01/communit...

        You're doing good work, Freso!
      • samj1912
        🙌
      • Freso
Lots of research and digging for that, but hopefully the April one should be less work. Or at least only a third of the work...
      • reosarevok
(Facebook already told me I should pay for visibility on it because it's performing great, so I guess that's good :p )
      • Freso
        Ha.
      • I also took a bit of time pruning comments on the blog, dealing with a reported editor, and kept up with IRC and forums.
      • samj1912
oh also, I wanted to ask why our fb page is called MB instead of MeB (we can't change the name?)
      • Freso
Off hours, I spent some time on https://github.com/JoeLametta/whipper - going through reported issues and making a couple of PRs. (whipper is the successor rip to morituri, a command-line ripper that exclusively uses MusicBrainz for metadata.)
      • samj1912: We have one (well, two...) for each.
      • And morituri/whipper's code is also used as basis for the Internet Archive's CD ripping code.
      • zas
        interesting, starred
      • Freso
I think that's all I can come up with for this week. fin. zas, go. :)
      • loujine
zas: the current whipper version stil needs old versions of gstreamer, so it's a pain to use on recent debian
      • Freso
        loujine: No.
      • loujine
I'm not up to date then, sorry :)
      • Freso
loujine: whipper 0.5.1 does not depend on gstreamer at all.
      • zas
i updated certs for mb.o, and fixed a cert renewal issue on discourse (by the way, both were unrelated)
      • loujine
        \o/
      • Freso is fairly up to date - feel free to come join #whipper too :)
      • zas
i fixed an issue with recordings indexation on search servers
      • also fixed a disk space issue on prince/boingo
      • and started the process to move from ntp we used to install by default in favor of timedatectl stuff that appeared in 16.04
      • reviewed a bunch of Picard PRs
      • and, of course, added a bunch of releases/artists to MB

      • zas
        Hey!
      • samj1912
        hello
      • reosarevok
This week I dealt with support, and helped Freso review and improve his latest post. Plus a lot of keeping up with subscriptions. Other than that, I've been kinda busy trying to write my end-of-school paper so I can graduate
      • bitmap: go?
      • ruaok
if I had a dollar for every time I heard about your graduations... I could at least buy some a day's worth of gelato....
      • zas
        lol
      • bitmap
        sure
      • reosarevok
ruaok: what do you expect me to do, get a life? D:
      • bitmap
I finished the UI stuff for work languages, mostly, just need to do the web service bits and write tests
      • took longer than I estimated though
      • ruaok
reosarevok: I've given up waiting. :)
      • Sophist_UK
        Looking forward to that bitmap.
      • bitmap
also, need to look into modifying the current search server to handle it too
      • probably won't be too hard
      • fin...who's left?
      • Freso
        ruaok for one. :)

      • Last week I have been mostly away. Actually April has not been my very best month.
      • Besides entity attributes, I worked on MBS-9304 and various small recent issues.

      • listenbrainz stuff is starting to look pretty solid, which makes me happy.
      • zas
or is it the mezcal making you happy ? who knows... ;)
      • Sophist_UK
Freso: If anyone is interested, me.
      • ruaok
I did other banking/taxes/accounting/quesito grooming, but nothing really stands out.
      • well, mezcal does stand out, now that you say it, zas.

I'm going to the Barcelona Burning Bash from wednesday afternoon (til sunday).
