phibs: it also freezes when saving flacs

huh, I mostly use flacs and have never had that happen

Leo_Verto: really, happens to me, though flacs are read from a samba drive and saved to a local drive

does it straight up freeze or just hang for a while?

cant do anything until the queue is free

ah yeah, probably bottlenecked by the smb read speed then

i can occasionally gain clicks etc, which seems to happen between songs for a sec or so

but that's definitely a situation where threading the UI would help a lot

yeah, i loose a lot of time due to freezes like that ;(

another piece of software you (and phibs) might want to try out is beets.io which is less of a dagger and more of a cli music library management tool

i can check it out

I've never really used it but it seems pretty useful when you're dealing with larger music collections

komanchoo: I think the FLAC issue is, sometimes the tags won't fit, so it has to expand

but iirc quite a few people here use Picard and beets together, they complement each other quite nicely

I don't know if its my network share I have 10G from desktop to server and can definitely fill that reading/writing

maybe samba locks or something stupid
