Freso: after gentlecat, who else is an admin for the GitHub BrainzBot ? And who can update our translation strings on Transiflex ?

naiveaiguy: If you want to do any work on the IRC BrainzBot, you should poke Leo_Verto. I think there might be a few tasks in GCI for the bot already, but feel free to suggest something else if you have a good idea and there's a good chance we can make a GCI task for that. :)

Freso: there aren't any brainzbot tasks, but I was wondering why brainzbot doesn't do the same thing for github as it does for JIRA

Freso: yes, if that's possible, it'll be great. I'm not sure I have the ability to white-list some students on GH, and considering one of the tasks is going to require the regeneration of translation strings, I might need your help with that on Transiflex

naiveaiguy: we do get PR notifs, but I'm not sure if PR titles are necessary.

we can make BrainzBot tasks too :) In fact Leo and I did talk about taskifying some Bot plugins

although, to answer your question, it can be a fairly good discussion (maybe during tomorrow's meeting) about what all plugins we can use

anshuman73: I don't know anything about music so I've decided not to mess with Brainz project data for the most part

it's kinda dumb how you just have to sit around after completing a task

that's not a worry. I stayed on my API documentation task for about 10 days last year

it isn't, just what you make of it. I don't remember staying still last year.

Here's a few things you can do - explore a few repos - I ended up finding a problem with our docker config in one of the dependency repos

go through tickets that haven't been converted to tasks

(for a reason or otherwise)

ask help on that

binary is two choices - I only suggested one

It is a competion overall, but for each org it's basically the same as contributing to the org

they've pretty much been the same to me in my experience :) Hackathons are competitions too, but in the end you go there to learn more stuff and create something good rather than to *just* win

sure, winning is a bonus

but hey, is a new laptop or a trip worth a life-long support from a community and the excitement of being responsible for creating a product ?

in addition to learning new stuff you wouldn't have otherwise cared to even search about

naiveaiguy: It is a process of that. remember, your quality of work is more judged than the number of tasks you do. I've been with GCI for 4 years, this year, and trust me when I say I've seen people who do 7 or 8 tasks as being the GCI winner than people who did 30-35

there are quite a lot of feedbakc we've gotten on that vrt the signup process and issues, you with your coding background might be able to give even more indebth feedback too :O

naiveaiguy: also, it isn't exactly hard to check out MB data adding (along with so many scripts to help you out). In fact, like CatQuest_ stated, we could use feedback if it isn't fluid enough to add data, as we want everyone to be able to add data, regardless of their background
