        (loujine may give more details/summary)
      • Otherwise, I debugged beta server and prod web service.
      • Finito, go iliekcomputers!
      • iliekcomputers
        Heyo!
      • samj1912
        o/
      • iliekcomputers
I'll just copy and paste my review ;)
      • Been slowly but steadily getting back into full gear this week. Spent the week mostly trying to get open PRs in various projects to better condition. Started with the case sensitive messybrainz PR. Worked on the metabrainz.org datasets page. Then, worked on some new features like restreaming the LB data into BQ with a better structure and comments on CB reviews. Neither of those complete yet, hopefully I'll have
      • something complete to show next week.
      • Fin!
      • samj1912: go
      • samj1912
        Hey
      • ferbncode

        \o/
      • samj1912
Getting back to solr this week.
      • Finished the port to solr 7
      • CatQuest
        :O
      • samj1912
Will now be bugging reosarevok as I work on search relevance
      • CatQuest
        oh no.
      • samj1912
ruaok: had a nice idea about using lb data for search
      • That's it for me
      • zas: go
      • zas
        hey
      • Freso
(People up for reviews: Freso, ruaok, CatQuest, LordSputnik, reosarevok — anyone else, please let me know explicitly ASAP.)
      • ferbncode
Freso: I am up for the meeting o/
      • zas
nothing much done, mainly usual supervision, few edtis, and pr reviews, but that's it, i'm in half sleep mode in BCN.
      • ruaok
        slacker
      • zas
we went to see Roger Waters in concert on saturday... amazing good show
      • ruaok
        really really good
      • iliekcomputers
        Jealous!
      • zas
        true, sl-hacking
      • that's it. ruaok ?
      • ruaok
        k
      • zas
        ahah
      • ruaok
I played more with the dockerization of the the spark cluster, including adding support for automatically creating new nodes at hetzner and deploying a cluster
      • iliekcomputers
        Wow, nice
      • zas
i helped using the uber efficient rubber ducking method...
      • ruaok
fun stuff, but other boring things like banks, invoices, supporters, accountants, taxes and other shit keep getting in the way.
      • oh, yeah. super helpful to have zas here.
      • CatQuest
zas: that's very usefull though so :D
      • ruaok
at points he did actually contribute more than rubber ducking.
      • like picking a good restaurant. :)
      • chhavi_
        o/
      • ruaok
we also met up with alastair today and talked messybrainz and GDPR, which was nice and very timely/helpful.
      • chhavi_
        o/
      • ruaok
iliekcomputers: i need to catch you up on the messybrainz side of things.
      • this week I have loads of boring shit to do -- not sure how much spark hacking there will be. :(
      • fin. chhavi_ !
      • zas
        holà chhavi_ !
      • chhavi_
        hello :)
      • CatQuest
        :D
      • chhavi_
This week I spent a lot of time going through feedbacks
      • iliekcomputers
ruaok: great, would be good to talk on that.
      • chhavi_
We have them everywhere now: tickets irc forum :p
      • bukwurm_
Freso: I am up for the meeting
      • chhavi_
        Updated mockups for release group
      • now onto release page
      • fin!
      • LordSputnik: go :)
      • LordSputnik
This week I worked a little bit more on relationships
      • You can now edit existing relationships in the editor (but not yet submit them to the server)
      • reosarevok is around
      • I also did some maintenance stuff on our building scripts
      • bukwurm joined the channel
      • And... It looks like elasticsearch is no longer consuming ever-increasing amounts of memory in an attempt to become sentient
      • So that's good news. Also means we have a bit more time to replace it
      • CatQuest
        oh no sky net
      • LordSputnik
That's it from me... reosarevok go!
      • CatQuest
        hey!
      • reosarevok
        Hi!
      • Freso
(People up for reviews: Freso, CatQuest, ferbncode, bukwurm_ — anyone else, please let me know explicitly ASAP.)
      • CatQuest
        :/
      • reosarevok
        So: I did general support
      • I also opened a PR for genres
      • So, anyone who wants to check that and make sure I'm not stupid (or I am) please do
      • It's a very basic, "hardcoded list in entities.json" approach
      • But it should work for now until we can get them into a proper DB table
      • That's it for me, CatQuest ? :)
      • CatQuest
        hi!
      • This week went by too fast. But this week I've given chhavi some feedback and pestered reosarevok with a LOT of rel tickets ·3·
      • (which you haven't looked at :P)
      • Today I've done some work on instrument aliases (and in the process also updated a little here and there)
      • fin. Freso ?
      • Freso
        🙋
      • This last week has been mostly cleaning new apartment, getting furniture, moving stuff, so kind of slow on doing other things.
      • Mostly keeping up on things.
      • fin. ferbncode, go.
      • ferbncode
        Hi o/
      • Freso
(Only bukwurm_ left after ferbncode. Last chance for others to go for reviews, otherwise meeting will close after bukwurm_ !)
      • ferbncode
This week I worked on fixing my PR: github.com/metabrainz/critiquebrainz/pull/200. More to come this week
      • bukwurm: go :)
      • bukwurm
        Hi everyone
      • CatQuest
        hi!
      • bukwurm
This week I worked on developing ideas for and writing port to postgres for search
      • As ES had been troubling the BB-site
      • My work migrations and adding of views to aid the search is complete
      • TOPIC: MetaBrainz Community and Development channel | MusicBrainz non-development: #musicbrainz | GSoC https://goo.gl/7jsjG2 | Meeting agenda: Reviews, GSoC (ruaok)
      • Little work remains to be done to complete the search process on the site side
      • Apart from that, seeing ES stabilise is good.
      • That's all for this week.
      • Freso
        loujine: Go!
      • loujine
        right :)
      • bukwurm
CatQuest: Most of it is done, so both actually. :)
      • CatQuest
        hah
      • loujine
so yvanzo reosarevok and I met people working with french radio, national library and so on
      • we talked about data alignment (they started something already)
      • CatQuest
        :o
      • loujine
and importing some of their shcema about genres or instruments
      • I prepared a summary (in french) that I have to send them
      • yvanzo
CatQuest: since you asked about: http://www.doremus.org
      • loujine
and we are going to start discussing about aligning more aritsts first
      • that's the short versionfor the moment
      • fin
      • CatQuest
        sounds really neat
      • Freso
        loujine: Thanks. :)
      • No more people up for reviews!
      • ruaok: GSoC!
      • ruaok
        wow, fast.
      • yvanzo
        !m loujine
      • BrainzBot
        You're doing good work, loujine!
      • CatQuest
        deff
      • ruaok
we are all set for gsoc -- I think the announcements will go out soon, IIRC
      • it seemed like we didn't get as many good proposals this year, but in the end it looks like a good bunch.
      • that was it. I should've given this update during the meeting, but forgot.
      • I'm looking forward to the announcements going out.
      • I feel that GSoC has been so good to us -- it felt really good to "visit my team in india" while not being one of those outsourcing pricks.
      • fin. back to you freso.
      • samj1912 would've liked to mentor a project :\
      • Freso
        Alright.
      • That's it for tonight!
      • ruaok
samj1912: :( yeah, that's how the cookie crumbles, as they say.
      • Freso
Clocking in at just over half an hour. Well done people. Enjoy the rest of your evening. :)
      • </BANG>
      • yvanzo zas Btw, don’t you want to co-mentor SpamBrainz anymore? Looks like a ratio student-mentors 1:2 is preferred by both GSoC and ruaok.
      • ruaok
        thanks freso!
      • yvanzo
        Oops :
      • CatQuest
        \o/ freso
      • yvanzo
        )
      • bukwurm
        Thanks Freso
      • ruaok
yvanzo: I've set you two to co-mentor spambrainz. all set.
      • zas
        yup
      • ruaok
iliekcomputers: got a sec for msb?
      • iliekcomputers
        Yeah sure
      • ruaok
        k.
      • so, alastairp pointed out that hashes are only in MsB and that UUIDs are associated with hashes.
      • which means that this problem is all much simpler than I thought.
      • yvanzo
Great, cause zas is not displayed in the proposal view, I guess it is just a proposal view rather than a slot view.
      • ruaok
in theory we can just make these changes inside MsB and not affect LB at all
      • so, the person who gets accepted for the MsB Gsoc project should first recompute the hashes in MsB.
      • iliekcomputers
Just to be clear, we're talking about the problem of lower casing stuff in MsB, yes?
