ruaok: in app signing if you are shown the public certificates export them

yvanzo: dunno, we haven't incremented the version in probably 10 years, so I'm not sure anyone would benefit from it. I'm afraid if we don't communicate that properly it'll break stuff for people actually using the musicbrainz_mmd-2.0.rng file
yvanzo
Is it planned to be dropped at some point?
bitmap
the XML web service version 2 isn't deprecated or planned to be yet, though the next WS won't support XML for sure
ruaok: I found a direct way to reset the key. since the app is more than 2 years old. It is signed by google play. You don't need to anything just right now. We can reset the key once only at the time we want to publish first apk. We can let users upgrade also in that way. Its a win-win, I suppose. Here's is the explained procedure, in case you need the details.
basically run those commands in the last sentence and see if it changes
reosarevok
We should probably change initial.sql to follow what we actually have too, then, but :)
bitmap nods
Seems to be guitars then, yeah
bitmap
aight, I'll fix that script to not use the cache at all
reosarevok
Should I drop the PR or leave it but update the sql file then? :)

bitmap: hey, have you thought about upgrading to gulp4 (given that some dependencies of gulp3 have known security issues), or is it not a priority atm (also not as urgent because build scripts are not exposed to the internet)?
reosarevok
Re: security issues, I see github is screaming at us about how jquery is moderately insecure :p
bitmap
alastairp: we have a pending PR to use webpack, which incidentally drops gulp entirely
alastairp
reosarevok: yeah, I'm working through those atm here
bitmap: ah, cool. though this "upgrade js tooling" seems to be never-ending :)
I was always trying to keep AB as close to MB as possible in terms of tools... I guess I should look at webpack now
bitmap
yeah, heh
at least gulp lasted us 4 or 5 years but it turned out to just not be needed for us with webpack
alastairp
the js in AB is really simple, I suspect that a really basic webpack configuration will work for us, I'll look into it
this might be a good direction to go in if we add more react... and with Mr_Monkey's react additions to LB maybe it's a good time to switch that to, unless he's already done it
kartikpandeytwo has quit
bitmap
yup. bookbrainz has used webpack for a while already, I think
Mr_Monkey
Since just after last summer
Mr_Monkey flies away
alastairp
Mr_Monkey: don't go away yet
you need to promise to help set up webpack in AB :D
