Well, I'm looking to query the database directly rather than using the web interface so I expect there's a convoluted set of joins and stuff.

      • Not.much last week, I was out for large parts, but:
      • - released listenbrainz on Monday
      • - trying to work out an acceptable resolution to the lawsuit that was dropped. I'm stuck in a thicket of cans of worms. Very fun.
      • - random email
      • I'll be lurking in the meeting but cannot be relied on to answer questions.

I worked on big fixes for LB, caught up on PRs in CB and AB and did some other work. Right now, I'm visiting my family because of some personal stuff.

      • Hi everyone!
      • This week I was mostly afk since was at home, yet I managed to get a few nitpicks fixed. First of all, I had a hard time installing numpy on leader, later I realised that every dependency should be installed on master as well as worker.
      • ruaok and iliekcomputers helped me do that (thanks to them). The reason why packages listed in requirements.txt weren't getting installed were because path to requirements.txt was not listed in Dockerfile.master and dockerfile.worker. I opened a pull request for the same.
      • Pushed changes as requested by ruaok in the PR that calculates stats. Also, I received reply from Jayant (person who we thought would help us debug the weird listener bus error). But it was not of much help. I hope Chris replies soon.
      • Then towards the end of the week, I tested the little recommendation engine on leader but for some reason the model it returned was empty. Phew. The coming week I would mostly try to fix this empty model and hopefully we will have recommendations for users soon.
      • That's all. nn! Everyone. Much love.

      • Mr_Monkey
        Hey !
      • nelgin
Ok cool. Thanks. sql will be much quicker than using the web interface considering I've got a few thousand mp3 files I want to parse and check.
      • Mr_Monkey
Lots of PR reviewing last week, with some good ongoing improvements to the BB website
      • nelgin
I need to get back to work so I'll catch up with you later, a few hours.
      • Mr_Monkey
I also did some research and doc reading for the potential GSOC projects
      • I worked a bit on renaming entities in the BB backend, which I am continuing this week
      • And finally, I also worked a bit more on polishing the player feature on LB.
      • That's all for me! reosarevok you're up
      • reosarevok
        Oh no
      • Hi!
      • CatQuest
        i!

Freso: I am also up for the meeting!
      • CatQuest
        hi*
      • reosarevok
So this week I looked into a bug reported by culinko which ended up involving a fix on sir instead of MBS
      • So I spent like 10 minutes fixing the bug and then like 3 hours trying to figure out how to write a proper test for XML comparison in Python
      • But hopefully now we have a working test and a clear idea of how to add further tests to sir WS conversion (which really needs some more)
      • Thanks samj1912!

        Yay! Tests! πŸ™Œ
      • reosarevok
I also was monitoring Twitter conversations, leading to both more work on music education (we can do https://musicbrainz.org/artist/2a7bf1f1-8eea-43... now)
      • Mr_Monkey
        Testsssssss

        (about mus edu rels)
      • reosarevok
So I also tried to get https://github.com/LinkedBrainz/MusicBrainz-R2RML to run (and mostly succeeded, although only inside Eclipse so far)
      • And started improving the mappings so the RDF dumps are of actual use
      • (for example, so that they include Wikidata URIs)
      • spellew joined the channel
      • That repo has been basically abandoned since 2015 but Barry from good old LinkedBrainz agreed to transfer it to MeB, so I guess I'll be the new project leader for that (oh god help me I know nothing about this stuff)
      • I added a project on Jira for it too, hope that's ok (https://tickets.metabrainz.org/browse/LINKB-2)
      • CatQuest
      • reosarevok
... I guess the bot needs to be set up to recognize those? Anyway
      • CatQuest: like that, only I'm not that cute
      • And today I was reviewing bitmap's relationships porting to a) try to understand our stuff better and b) try to make sure it's ok. But mostly a)
      • Khalifa joined the channel
      • Other than that, the usual, lots of editing etc
      • CatQuest: what about you? :)
      • code_master5
Freso: Me up for review! add me..
      • spellew
Mr_Monkey: Can I get your opinion on how I should go about accessing data from BookBrainz for my potential GSoC project? I'm planning on adding book reviews to CritiqueBrainz
      • Freso
reosarevok: I think it should pick up new "namespaces" eventually on its own. Maybe it'll need a restart? Or some kind of poke. Leo_Verto[m]?
      • reosarevok
spellew: after the meeting please :)
      • Freso
spellew: Can you wait ~50 minutes/until the meeting is over? :)

      • Freso
I did some minor Jira administrative task, updating some plugins that Jira was bugging me about needing updating.
      • CatQuest
        Freso isn't a ho! :O
      • :P
      • Freso
And also changed the lead(s) of the CB and MSP Jira projects to iliekcomputers and MEB to ruaok. (It was still Roman for all of them before.)

      • yvanzo
        hi, thanks, take care!
      • Looked into our current JIRA 7.2 instance, and requirements to upgrade it to JIRA 8 on new host.
      • Khalifa has quit
      • Note: Expect some readonly/downtime during the migration which should happen this week.
      • It will allow setting Automation add-on with GitHub security alerts for the SEC project.
      • Also dived into search server components, reporting non-existent bugs and opened stupid PRs for SIR, sorry to samj1912 and bitmap.
      • Released a new version of mb-rngpy on both PyPI and GH, in sync with mmd-schema 2.0 v-2019-01-07, thanks to Mineo and Freso.
      • Then reviewed Cyna’s first PR (for converting attributes admin UI to React) which is great, thank you!
      • Finally reviewed some of reo’s PRs and reworked PR to convert user profile editing template to React.
      • Fin I guess, zas?
