ruaok: I hear you on the "not much data". Maybe not enough to produce any statistically significant information. As for the GDPR issue, would that also apply to collections marked as "Public"?
rdswift doesn't fully understand all the GDPR nuances.
ruaok
I am not sure if the public data is free for processing. likely to be in the grey zone -- I suspect that it would be best to ask our users for explicit permission.
rdswift
Sounds like the best solution, if it ever comes to that. May not be worth the effort.
ruaok
there will come a day when we're hunting for more data sources.
rdswift
In the meantime, kepstin had an interesting suggestion about adding some functionality to Picard to update a user's collection automatically when they tag something. Might encourage a larger data set when the time comes.
ruaok
I've long felt that picard needed to have features like that.
never gotten around to it, saldy.
rdswift
I'll see if there's a ticket and add one if not. It shouldn't be that difficult to add. (Famous last words... :-) )
beta has been updated just after latest mbs release I think, but there is no much changes into it?
bitmap
it was?
Cyna
bitmap: have you checked the forms submit button of my latest code ?
bitmap
Cyna: no, I haven't
Cyna
the form submit button is not working, I've checked other buttons and passed params accordingly
bitmap
ok, what is not working?
Cyna
still they are not working
well the button is getting pressed but im getting redirected anywhere
neither is the edit getting submitted
bitmap
does it reload the page?
yvanzo
bitmap: the current beta has been inline for ten days already, would you prefer to have it released right now (it is mostly about OPTIONS/CORS preflight), or to push master to beta and wait for normal release?
bitmap, reosarevok: IIRC we used to not touch master during beta period so as to ease backporting beta hotfixes to master, but we can just be cautious about not merging potentially conflicting patches?
bitmap
before 2015 I guess? but yeah, if there's some kind of merge conflict then that requires attention
most hotfixes are pretty small and easy to backport, at least
yvanzo
alright :) dunno before 2015, my first patch is 2016, really involved since 2017 ;)
bitmap
oh, right lol
maybe there were some cases where we did decide to freeze master temporarily, I forget
Cyna
bitmap: The page is refreshing all right, but there are ni changes
*no
bitmap
might some of the fields have errors that aren't being displayed?
CatQuest and anyone else interested: Automatic creation of Edition Group is up on test.bookbrainz.org . Could you please try it out and let me know if you find any issues/improvements?
And so is the new date picker, by the way !
reosarevok
bitmap: *could* we provide a better way of doing it?
Say, if there's over 500 recordings, add some sort of notification message with the response and allow some other endpoint that queries smaller chunks without requiring 500+ queries?
bitmap
hrm, I forgot you can browse recordings by release, so that's another available option
I'm not sure adding something like requesting individual media would be any better than that (probably slower)

Mr_Monkey: Hi!
Mr_Monkey
Hi akhilesh ! How's it going?
akhilesh
Mr_Monkey: are you available now for some help?
Mr_Monkey
Not at the moment, starting to prepare dinner. But I always encourage you to write your questions, that gives me the time to start thinking about it, and respond later
akhilesh
Ok
I will comment on PR Mr_Monkey.
Mr_Monkey
OK, perfect
Cyna
I've put all the field errors right and yes nothing is displayed
CatQuest
Mr_Monkey: :O
first thang: when I go from https://test.bookbrainz.org/search?q=grove+dict... to "edition" (then probably I'd want the "name" to be pre-populated with the search string (unrelated to what oy uasked to search for but ))
still no "copy" next to "guess" on sortname..
date picker: i can't actually choose a year
it won't set
also selecting am onth
it requires date
(also just having a field i cna paste soem dateinto woudl be prefferable)
ruaok: "Only Immanuel Kant’s famously difficult “Critique of Pure Reason” registers a more challenging readability score than Facebook’s privacy policy." ... thanks for the link, interesting
ruaok
I lol'ed at that.

The [Google] policy became more readable at the expense of brevity after the introduction of the General Data Protection Regulation, the European Union data privacy protection framework that went into effect a year ago
