that chair looks fine. we were in ikea on monday doing a shopping list, and I didn't want to worry about chairs at that moment. I'd prefer one without arms, but many of the chairs with arms require them to hold the back in place
      • looks like that one is OK

        heh
      • i was looking at https://www.ikea.com/ie/en/p/jaervfjaellet-offi... too. but it wasn't in stock.

pristine___: without the spotify IDs it is hard to send a playlist to spotify.
      • I suppose we look up things to play in spotify and we *could* send users to spotify.
      • alastairp
        oh, that looks nice
      • interesting, ikea ie is cheaper than ikea spain
      • ruaok
but one feature of the brainzplayer is that it attempts to play from many sources, not just spotify.
      • alastairp
        no jaervfjaellet in spain :(
      • ruaok goes t hunt for some food.

i wanted to try out the flying elephant one because they're a really impressive company (they only switched to making desks after covid, were doing something totally different before). but yeah, adjustable desks are awesome. would fork over the $$ if i knew i wouldn't be selling it back in a year or two.
      • alastairp
        got it
      • yeah, the ikea trip was a real eye opener
      • we're in for a 5 year lease, and need new _everything_
      • had chosen a sofa and table on the ikea website, and when we got there it's was all a bit whelming

ruaok: When you're back from foodland, PR 1015 is ready on my side (and I believe you were done too) https://github.com/metabrainz/listenbrainz-serv...
      • alastairp
by the time you upgrade a few models jumps to something that feels nicer, you're at the same price as all of the stuff that the local furniture shops sell at, and we much prefer the idea of walking down the street and getting something local
      • iliekcomputers
        Agree totally
      • pristine___
ruaok: can you run all the four commands just for shivam-kapila as the user.?
      • ruaok
Mr_Monkey: I have a test to add to that, I can do that this afternoon.
      • pristine___: ok, can do.
      • so, I just walked into a supermarket with my mask on, standard procedure.
      • and everyone in the shop just STARED at me. I guess masks are only required on public transit here.
      • pristine___: done
      • ishaanshah
        iliekcomputers: ping
      • ruaok
pristine___: whops, you said 4 commands. so request_dataframes and request_model as well?
      • ignore the first run where I only the latter two. :/
      • iliekcomputers
        Pong
      • ishaanshah
So I got the mapping to work
      • I was thinking wether we should replace user submitted mbids with the ones in mapping considering we have a lot of incorrect mbid submissions
      • for eg last fm ones
      • iliekcomputers
        Recording mbids, for sure
      • Not sure about the others
      • ishaanshah
hmm, right now I am only considering artist_mbids
      • thats why I asked
      • iliekcomputers
For site wide stats, let's just do it then
      • ishaanshah
        hmm, makes sense
      • iliekcomputers
For user stats, we'll have to be more careful
      • ishaanshah
        yep agreed
      • ruaok
I'm taking the approach that I don't trust MBIDs that have been submitted...
      • and doing recording-artist lookups instead.
      • and yes, the MBIDs from the mapping are likely going to be better.
      • ruaok should run a query to sanity check that
      • iliekcomputers
For generic stuff like recommendations and site wide stats, it should be OK. No one would really notice any mismatch
      • But there are users who've been diligently submitting mbids, and people will probably complain if their personal stats don't match up.
      • But yeah, some stats on the difference would be nice
      • ruaok
I can try and do that after vacation... I want to mine our listens for other stuff too.
      • might as well compare MBIDs while I am at it.
      • and maybe fix the MHLD
      • pristine___
        ruaok: thanks
      • And the troi plus brainzplayer is really cool.
      • 🌹🌹🌹
      • excited to experiment with it :)

Welp, here's something: more than 50% of the Authors and Works added to BookBrainz have been added in the last 30 days, since the Bookogs community came over!
      • alastairp
I was going to ask about that, I don't even know what bookogs is!
      • I saw them being talked about a little bit over the last few weeks
      • Mr_Monkey
Discogs had various sister projects, most of which are closing down
      • alastairp
        interesting
      • difficult to keep your finger in many different pies at once
      • Mr_Monkey
Including the Bookogs and Comicogs communities, in particular, some of which have moved over to BB
      • alastairp
great that they chose to come here!
      • has there been extra work to support their requirements? Do you think that this will be needed more?
      • Mr_Monkey
Indeed! Great that they saw the unfinished state of BookBrainz and decided it was worth sticking with it!
      • alastairp
data dumps permanently available, it seems? get one of those and keep it safe
      • Mr_Monkey
I've been spending lots of time having good discussions on the forum, a lot of which is either refining known issues or moving along guidelines and definitions
      • Both of which being very useful

        <3
      • Mr_Monkey
        Yep, already got them saved.
      • alastairp
I guess I'm not subscribed to that topic
      • amazing, sounds like MeB's reputation preceeds it
      • a pity about the developer leading the project
      • uh, I mean, congrats Mr_Monkey
      • Mr_Monkey
One user is even helping in figuring out how to import from Bookogs to BB, and what's missing for that to happen smoothly

      • alastairp
Freso: Mr_Monkey doesn't have a badge on community saying who he is. not sure if that's something you have to add, or he can?
      • ruaok
if we should safeguard some dumps there, by all means, lets do it.
      • sumedh joined the channel
      • Mr_Monkey
Great. There's still some activity so I'll wait until final closing for the final dumps
      • Still some activity on Bookogs*

      • I am working on LB-84 and getting some error. i added some debug statements for printing during the tests and got the above output. the from _ts and to_ts are set correctly and the query also has the right conditions but it still returns an extra listen
      • BrainzBot

I was looking at shivam-kapila 's top artist in the HTML. There is only one artist in the list which is strange because I looked at his weekly stats and there were a couple of artists in there. Would you mind looking at the top artist query we use in candidate_sets.py and lemme know if there is any bug? But could it be a coincidence that all the top artists he has listened to aren't in the mapping and therefore
      • have been discarded by the join.
      • ru
      • ruaok: ^
      • so I checked for `fb823615-9ecd-4d2d-9154-0beac276434d` in `artist-msid-lookup` and nothing was returned so I guess the query is fine but we don't have mbids/artist_credit_id for some artists, no?
      • white_shadow has quit
      • This has reduced his top artists stat in the past 14 days from about 6 to 1, and therefore only three tracks in the top artist playlist for him.
      • ruaok looks
      • ruaok
I'm pretty sure you have is correct and likely missing artist matches in the mapping
      • pristine___
okay. verified. None of the artists msids in here have a corresponding mbid
      • ruaok: but i want to 100% sure about it. can you run the the commands one fore time?
      • ruaok
I'd tell shivam-kapila to go add that data to MB, but he's busy with other things. 🤣
      • pristine___
I will give you the updated commands.
      • shivam-kapila
        Am I strange
      • pristine___
        nope. unique
      • ruaok
pristine___: this is the reason why I think we should have the CF stuff generate MORE data on wider rangers.
      • shivam-kapila
        Heh. Better word for strange
      • ruaok: I tried but couldnt be successful. Also not busy but my laptop is hanging a lot :/
      • ruaok
ask us questions, we have answers. :)
      • pristine___
ruaok: so I think you have been running candidate_sets with `days=14`. Can you remove that and rerun for shivam-kapila ? by default it is 7 days, I want to generate rec for him on 7 days
      • ruaok
        ok
      • pristine___
        > this is the reason why I think we should have the CF stuff generate MORE data on wider rangers.
      • right
      • > Heh. Better word for strange
      • ruaok
which if the 4 commands do you need to run?
      • pristine___
        candidate_sets and rec
      • shivam-kapila: your uniqueness is helping us track bugs and stuff :)
      • ruaok
requested, but request consumer was not restarted. that correct?
      • shivam-kapila
        I am the edge case
      • pristine___
I am not sure about it. iliekcomputers knows better
      • shivam-kapila wants a special badge
      • ruaok
the request consumer needs restarting only when code has changed, which hasn't happened, right?
      • pristine___
ummm... yup, no change in the code
      • ruaok
then you should be all set.
      • iliekcomputers: https://github.com/metabrainz/listenbrainz-serv... is ready for review now
