      • pristine___: Go!
      • pristine___ says…
      • """
      • I was afk the last week, was busy in Diwali preps. I will be sporadically online for a while since I am moving to Berlin. I will pick up from where I left (tests #1149) once I reach Berlin.

      • Other people up for reviews: zas, alastairp, Mr_Monkey, ruaok, yvanzo, bitmap, reosarevok, Freso, shivam-kapila, CatQuest, jmp_music, _lucifer – anyone else who want to give review, please let me know ASAP! :)
      • zas: Go!
      • zas
        Hey
      • Apart usual stuff, supervision, upgrades, etc...
      • we released a new point release of Picard
      • I'm also mitigating an ssh bruteforce attack on lemmy, causing DoS
      • ruaok
        !m zad
      • BrainzBot
        You're doing good work, zad!
      • ruaok
        !m zas!
      • BrainzBot
        You're doing good work, zas!!
      • ruaok
        lol
      • zas
        that's it for me, Mr_Monkey ?
      • Freso 😂
      • Mr_Monkey
        Hai !
      • zas
        thanks :) ruaod
      • :))
      • Mr_Monkey
Last week my main project, which I'm finishing this evening, was adding all areas to the BookBrainz search
      • CatQuest
        :o
      • Mr_Monkey
I also fixed a couple of shameful bugs with edit notes and deleted entities
      • With the help of Freso, we set up the #bookbrainz IRC channel properly !
      • CatQuest
        \o/
      • Mr_Monkey
I spent a good bit of time working on BrainzPlayer, reviewing and planning for work on ListenBrainz (feedback component, playlists, play queue, etc.)
      • Also spent a bit of time digging into FunkWhale that ruaok unearthed as a personnal music library pod, and how easy interraction with LB would be
      • ruaok
        :)
      • Mr_Monkey
Got contact by both LordSputnik and Leftmost, both working on separate BB projects, it's nice to see :)
      • Some PR reviews, some forum discussions, and some security fixes to round up the week.
      • And a sprinkle of issue triage
      • That's it for my busy week. bitmap GO !
      • bitmap
        hey
      • last week I wrote some minimal Flow types for d3.js as part of https://github.com/metabrainz/musicbrainz-serve...
      • which actually found a few issues
      • set up a jenkins job to rsync https://github.com/metabrainz/irombook-instrume... to staticbrainz (reo is working on displaying them on the site)
      • also upgraded jenkins since I had to update the docker image for that anyway
      • to add imagemagick for mogrifying the images
      • ruaok
        mogrifying. >3
      • bitmap
other than that, I did some code review, worked on fixing test failures, and looked into MBS-9725
      • BrainzBot
MBS-9725: Use Discourse avatars in MusicBrainz https://tickets.metabrainz.org/browse/MBS-9725
      • CatQuest
        :O whoo hoo
      • <3 <3
      • bitmap
using the discourse API to fetch the avatars would probably add too much latency even if we cached them, but I made some notes on how we might rsync the images to staticbrainz or somewhere. similar to the instrument stuff I did
      • CatQuest
        ( ^ิ ॢᗨ^ิ゚)
      • bitmap
anyway, I think that's about it. reosarevok go?
      • reosarevok
        Hi!
      • Last week I worked with bitmap to be able to display instrument images
      • As mentioned
      • CatQuest
        :D
      • reosarevok
        Code changes are up
      • I also worked on bugfixes (MBS-11223 / MBS-11224)
      • BrainzBot
MBS-11223: Releases with "unknown tracklist" on a medium failed to load in the "Edit Relationships" tab https://tickets.metabrainz.org/browse/MBS-11223
      • MBS-11224: Releases with no medium should show a clear message in the relationship editor https://tickets.metabrainz.org/browse/MBS-11224
      • reosarevok
And on refactoring our report code to reduce repetition as much as I could manage (there's still a fair amount of repetition due to the fact that we have almost 100[!!!] of them but at least I managed to extract some stuff to reusable components)
      • I also finished (hopefully) work on MBS-11112
      • BrainzBot
MBS-11112: Convert /main error pages to React https://tickets.metabrainz.org/browse/MBS-11112
      • reosarevok
So, more react conversion :) I'll do some more of that this week!
      • CatQuest: go? (I totally can't imagine what this might be about)
      • CatQuest
        Meow! `😺`
      • added books and quite a lot of tickets, especially some I have wanted to make for a long while!
      • including OTHER-371 which I hope we can get help with ASAP
      • BrainzBot
        OTHER-371: enable BrainzBot replying in #bookbrainz https://tickets.metabrainz.org/browse/OTHER-371
      • CatQuest
Finally there has been much update in the IROM instrument image front!
      • Thanks to bitmap✨ and reosarevok🌟, we now have this depository https://github.com/metabrainz/irombook-instrume...
      • and I have been busy finding right images and working with reo on this.
      • reosarevok
bitmap deserves an equally big star :D
      • CatQuest
finally I've been also adding links to IROMBOOK 私家版楽器事典 which was added a little earlier
      • he got sprklies :O
      • reosarevok
        Ok :D
      • CatQuest
oh and next monday there will be a moon eclipse https://eclipse.gsfc.nasa.gov/LEplot/LEplot2001...
      • fin, go freso!
      • Freso
        Hullo
      • reosarevok
Damn, just out of visible zone
      • CatQuest
        ya :(
      • Freso
Not much to report outside of the usually, other than spending some time on getting IRC stuff set up for BookBrainz. OTHER-371 should be simply a restart of the bot, but it seems like we need LordSputnik and/or Leo_Verto to do this, as the process is apparently not documented in syswiki, and I don’t remember how/where.
      • BrainzBot
        OTHER-371: enable BrainzBot replying in #bookbrainz https://tickets.metabrainz.org/browse/OTHER-371
      • Freso
        fin.
      • alastairp: Go!
      • alastairp
        hi there
      • Freso
(People still up: ruaok, yvanzo, shivam-kapila, jmp_music, _lucifer – anyone else who want to give review, please let me know ASAP! :))
      • alastairp
a lot of discussions last week - I had some good discussions with pristine___ about both artist recommendations, and the feedback component on LB. A few things that we have to clarify still, but I think this will turn into some interesting results
      • some more of poking troi and acousticbrainz endpoints, and I did some work at MTG to get some of our work there into a state that we can use it in troi
      • I reviewd yvanzo's work on improving the python docker images, and started some work to upgrade listenbrainz and acousticbrainz to the latest versions
      • and took a look at listenbrainz app startup with docker + consul to improve how this works
      • I updated brainzutils to install the musicbrainz sample database during testing so that we can test our database access methods against a real database, to fix some issues that we were seeing in CB
      • I finished a PR on brainzutils for stats https://github.com/metabrainz/brainzutils-pytho..., waiting on iliekcomputers to have spare time to review that
      • finally, I got sphinx working for brainzutils documentation, with the final aim of publishing documentation about how all our various parts work
      • ruaok: next
      • ruaok
        wow, so much progress, alastairp
      • alastairp
when you do lots of small things it looks like you did a lot :)
      • but thanks
      • ruaok
last week was the normal meb overhead, but also a lot of troi hacking and reviewing PRs. I finally got some reasonable artist credit year lookup data set working, so troi has support for filtering tracks by years now.
      • as Mr_Monkey suggested, I found funkwhale and installed a private copy to learn more about it.
      • it seems a perfect fit for us in a lot of ways. it would make a nice brainzplayer backend and troi could live as a plugin inside funkwhale. apparently their community has asked for recommendations a number of times.
      • so, very promising to have another open source project to start using our stuff.f I'll dig in more in the next few weeks.
      • I also did some prepping for the upcoming LB hack weekend (next weekend).
      • I'll be pinging people more about this over the week.
      • and finally, google renewed its $30k support for us this year. but it may be the last or at least we should expect it to be reduced next year.
      • google helped us a lot over the years, I'm very thankful.
      • fin. yvanzo!
      • Mr_Monkey
        🎉
      • yvanzo
        Hi!
      • As alastairp reported earlier, I added support for tagging Python base images with build date.
      • (It should allow to support downgrading if needed when updating consul version breaks stuff.)
      • Last week, there has been no beta release of MusicBrainz Server, so don’t expect MBS update this week either.
      • Instead, MMD Schema and MB Solr have been updated to support recording’s first release date in MBS CI.
      • I mainly worked on other related search changes that can be added via the same MB Solr and SIR update.
      • Plus usual PR reviews, fin.
      • I forgot I enjoyed using Picard 2.5.x, thanks to outsidecontext and all!
      • Go shivam-kapila!
      • reosarevok
yvanzo: let's aim for releasing beta on Wed then? :)
      • BrainzGit

      • Freso
(I only have jmp_music, _lucifer left on my list. Last call for anyone else who may wish to give reviews. <3)

      • _lucifer
        Hi all!
      • I wasn't able to do any work last week. was busy in the first half and fell ill in the second half of the week. hope to resume work once again soon.
      • jmp_music__: next
      • jmp_music__

      • Hi everybody!
      • shivam-kapila
        O/
      • jmp_music__
I'm continuing to work on the Confusion Matrix extraction tool over the last weeks when I have time, as I have also many other obligations at my work.
      • However, when I have free time I always keep my hands dirty with the AB project. I think this week or the next I'll reach my goal.
      • fin!
      • I think I'm the last one of the list, right?
      • Freso
That wraps up this week’s reviews!
      • jmp_music__: You are!
      • No additional items on the agenda, so this also wraps up the meeting. :)
      • Thank you everyone who gave reviews, and thank you everyone who were present for your time. ❤️
      • Stay safe and stay hydrated! 😷
      • BrainzGit has quit

      • Freso
BrainzGit only stuck around for the meeting. When meeting was over, it yeeted out. But I guess it changes its mind. :p
