ruaok: check came in, so at least the mail's fairly fast; I'll try to go deposit it tomorrow to see what delay there is on the money being available
      • ruaok
        great

      • ianmcorvidae
ruaok: FYI, plaintext's work isn't in the schema change branch; I'm going to test it a bit separately to see about including it (at the very least the schema change scripts)
      • ruaok
        ok, thanks.
      • seems the imgration from yesterday is *still* running.
      • ianmcorvidae
        heh
      • also, meh, keeping around five databases is a pain :) it'll be nice to drop all these schema change ones
      • ruaok
        ianmcorvidae: yes.
      • that is included in the master testing.
      • ianmcorvidae
        k, cool
      • multi-channel communication :)
      • ruaok
        I just noted that.
      • we just need to get the damn scripts to finish in non np-complete time. :)
      • ianmcorvidae
        heh
      • ianmcorvidae is currently downloading a new data dump to test a migration including plaintext's stuff
      • ruaok
you might want to comment out not-null-comments.sql
      • ianmcorvidae
        I think I might, yeah
      • and re: replication, I guess we should make some changes to tables that are changing so they end up in the packet, and then try to import that replication packet on a separately-migrated slave instance?
      • ruaok
        yep.
      • I will setup a master and a slave.
      • and then generate and apply a handul of packets.
      • ianmcorvidae
        cool
      • ruaok
and I will also do a complete data dump and reimport.
      • gah. brain is fried. time for a break.
      • I was going to work up a contract, but the thought of loading word now is killing me.
      • ianmcorvidae
        I guess fried-brain doesn't make vim+LaTeX a better option :P
      • ruaok
        lol, no.
      • our potential customers would be?. flummoxxed.:)
      • ruaok runs off for a bread
      • k
      • feh
      • ianmcorvidae
heh, I guess he left, I was just figuring he gave people contracts in paper or PDF

ianmcorvidae: MBS-5264: javascript formatTrackLength was adding 0.5 rather than 500 to the duration, so sub-second changes were rounding incorrectly

I save $90 by having someone driving me to Buffalo (1.5h), taking amtrak to NYC (8h) and taking a flight from there instead of from Toronto
      • Doesn't seem worth it. But on the plus side I'd get to spend 6 hours in Geneva
      • ianmcorvidae
        heh
      • ruaok
6 hours is enough to see geneva too.
      • there trains out of the airport and to the central startion every 2-3 minutes.
      • you could totally bug out and cruise geneva for an hour and really pound some chocolate.
      • the supermarket with the cheap good chocolate is just out side the station.
      • navap
heh, always about the chocolate with you :)
      • ruaok
and two other things, ya. :)
      • shit, I'm not even eating chocolate right now.
      • navap
Leaving from NYC (well, Newark) gives me lots of layover options and they're all cheaper than flying from Toronto even with the $60 amtrak ticket
      • THere's one flight that stops in both Geneva and Zurich
      • ruaok
        lame.
      • swiss?
      • ianmcorvidae
        heh, I'm flying through newark
      • ruaok
I'm flying swiss on the way there.
      • SFO > ZRH > BCN
      • navap
Given the context of this conversation, those three codes make sense.
      • Try YYZ on for size ;)
      • ruaok
ya, airport codes in canuckistan make no sense.
      • ianmcorvidae only knows that one as a Rush song :P
      • who thought that shit up?
      • sounds like there is a migros at ZRH. :)
      • yep.
      • hopefully I can get to it and pick up super yummy chocolate.
      • navap
      • warp wakes up
      • ruaok
navap: yep, and that is the crappy stuff. :)
      • navap
I can tell. There's no way a chocolate named "Tourist" can be good haha
      • warp has chocolate tea.
      • warp
        it is awful.
      • ruaok
        eww
      • navap
I tasted a chocolate filled candy cane today. Aweful combination of flavours
      • ruaok
        right. so lets brainstorm.
      • who can we hit up for money.
      • I've hit google, last.fm, IA.
      • mxm is out.
      • grooveshark gave $500. I can try that again.
      • ianmcorvidae
triworks? I don't know if they're actual clients yet
      • but they're closer physically to the summit than others
      • navap
How is it going with musixmatch? I haven't heard them mentioned in ages
      • ruaok
I hit triworks pretty hard, yes.
      • warp
        spotify?
      • ruaok
        warp: good!
      • I can try pimping us out at SFMT
      • aol, somethin else, and spotify are on my hitlist for tomorrow.
      • well, somethin else has already been pestered actually.
      • and grooveshark
      • warp
ruaok: all the major record labels! :)
      • ruaok
ya, they have cash floating around. :)
      • navap
aol.com links to us quite a bit
      • They have more links to us than the BBC does, although the BBC links to a wider selection of entities
      • Have we had any contact with 8tracks.com or beardscratchers.com?
      • ruaok
        yes.
      • beardscratchers is just a dude in SF. rod begbie. good chap.
      • 8tracks, yes. I really need to pester them to pay us some money.
      • navap
Most of the sites doing major linking to us seem to be non-commercial
      • ruaok
navap: maybe we can put together the MB showcase while were in BCN.
      • I want to find out who to shake down. :)
      • navap
        :)
      • ruaok
or even simpler: out of the list of sites that link to us, how many are commercial that are no already our customers?
      • warp
        amazon?
      • ruaok
and I'm hoping to get some more uptake after SFMT and announcing the CAA
      • on my list, but last year I didn't get very far.
      • warp
(well, they don't link to us, but they consistently score high in google for database entries from musicbrainz which they don't sell)
      • ruaok
        heh.
      • hm.
      • I need to visit them in seattle.
      • next time i'm in PDX>
      • maybe in dec.

Webmaster tools just helped me find a bug with our chrome frame :)
      • Is there anyone else who should have access to the webmaster tools or analytics?
      • warp
navap: me! in december or so. but I should already have access.
      • navap
        Yeah I thought you did
      • ianmcorvidae
I don't know that I need access, I always like having access to yet-more data sources though
      • (it's like I'm an MB editor :P)
      • navap
Speaking of which, why aren't you an auto-editor yet?
      • ianmcorvidae
because nobody's bothered to nominate me :P
      • periodically nikki and reosarevok are surprised to re-learn that I'm still not one :P
      • navap
Do you want to be an auto-editor?
      • (erm, it's a bit late considering I already clicked the button..)
      • ianmcorvidae
        oh, heh
      • navap
        So hopefully you say yes
      • ianmcorvidae
I don't know how much I'll use it, but I wouldn't mind having that option
      • especially for things like data cleanup for dev purposes :)
      • bitmap joined the channel
      • warp
ianmcorvidae: once you have it, you'll use it all the time.
      • :)

      • ianmcorvidae
        heh
      • these votes aren't very private when I can see the totals :P
      • warp
        s/totals/totals at any time/
      • just seeing the totals is not in itself a problem. but because it is real time you can make a note of the totals after every vote.
      • ianmcorvidae
not that they're very private when you have root on the database server anyway
      • navap
Take a screenshot every minute for two weeks, compile it into a video and then play spot the differences
      • haha
      • warp
if you have root you don't need this whole voting stuff anyway. autoeditor is an UPDATE away.
      • ianmcorvidae
        well, of course
      • or, of course, who needs the web interface at all
      • warp tries to get a FailedDependancy
      • do all edits from the SQL shell ;)
      • warp
yeah, none of this edit queue nonsense.
      • navap
There's a (un)fun MB game to play. Who can accurately add a complete release using just pure SQL
