ruaok: speaking of which, some time ago we were talking about things I dislike about germany and I said the traffic lights. there's one I go past a lot lately which tends to have the pattern green light + red man, red light + red man, green light + red man, red light + green man

oh, and when the green man appears, all the traffic comes round the corner to almost run me over :P

I can be pretty patient, but that particular one drives me nuts. I get sick of waiting and just cross when there's *actually* no traffic, instead when there is but I'm allowed to :P

I like to trigger the lights at like 6am when there's one car on the entire street and it has to stop so I can cross :P

one of the traffic lights near my place is buggy - if you hit the button at the wrong time, it will cancel itself rather than activate the pedestrian crossing :/

(the wrong time being after the pedestrian crossing was just active, but before the lights have changed for the other direction)

another thing I hate is the way they label trains...

they sometimes do, sometimes don't. depends on the intersection

heh, some of ours change exactly when you press them, so you stand there trying to get the indicator light thingy to show up, only to turn round and find out it's not working because it already changed to the green man :P

the buttons around here usually have little lights on the button to indicate whether you need to press it. If the light is on, pressing the button does nothing.

"fine, whatever, cross"

(if the light is off, then the crossing won't activate unless you push the button, and the light comes on when you push it)

Ok, I'm happy with the progress on work attributes so I think I'll head home now

all editing works - just need admin panels and edit displays and we're good to go

read "good to go" as "ready to have all the inevitable bugs reported" :)

my only comment, is noone ever seems to says that they had a really good week

just before I went on holiday I was getting seriously burnt out, and it felt like a large portion of it was due to the inane amount of friction our Perl codebase produces

Our code is ok, not great, but the majority of the pain really does feel due to the language itself
