Lewis: my guess is that there is a problem in the DB you got there
      • 2013-11-01 30523, 2013

      • JonnyJD_
finding and deleting that duplicate might help

      • 2013-11-01 30557, 2013

      • JonnyJD_
Lewis: maybe try and delete all artist_gid_redirects? (not sure if you need it, but that is probably fixed with replication again)
      • 2013-11-01 30530, 2013

      • nikki
replication doesn't recreate the entire table
      • 2013-11-01 30511, 2013

      • JonnyJD_
well, then you have to find the exact entries that have a duplicate primary key
      • 2013-11-01 30518, 2013

      • nikki
and imo if you're getting errors like that, you've managed to end up with a messed up db and should reimport it
      • 2013-11-01 30550, 2013

      • JonnyJD_

      • snartal
JonnyJD_: That covers it basically, though what I did was just copy the files in the bin directory to the base picard directory. Adding th the path is probably a better choice for anything that needs gettext.

        reosarevok: done
      • 2013-11-01 30536, 2013

      • JonnyJD_
yeah, copying the binaries is also an option, though adding things to the path is "the usual way to go"
      • 2013-11-01 30559, 2013

      • snartal
        I would agree
      • 2013-11-01 30549, 2013

      • snartal
The only other thing I would say is since its in a paragraph, dense winders users like me who have new to this stuff have a harder time parsing it, where a the bulleted items above help break it apart mentally.
      • 2013-11-01 30533, 2013

      • JonnyJD_
hm, didn't want to make a "big fuzz" with more bullets, but maybe I should do that

      • snartal
        Heck no!
      • 2013-11-01 30507, 2013

      • snartal
Yea, I link to that page would of been awesome!
      • 2013-11-01 30532, 2013

      • snartal
Though, I didn't get all that stuff.
      • 2013-11-01 30525, 2013

      • luks
you can get picard running without all of that
      • 2013-11-01 30545, 2013

      • luks
but this page gives you everything to build a fully functional installer
      • 2013-11-01 30509, 2013

      • luks
you don't need things like py2exe or nsis to run picard
      • 2013-11-01 30517, 2013

      • luks
and you can get gettext some other way, not using mingw
      • 2013-11-01 30518, 2013

      • snartal
Yea, I'll +100 adding that link to the install instructions
      • 2013-11-01 30524, 2013

      • luks
        hm

      • 2013-11-01 30559, 2013

      • snartal
yea, you have to dig around for it
      • 2013-11-01 30505, 2013

      • JonnyJD_
luks: there are windows binaries for gettext, that is what he got
      • 2013-11-01 30514, 2013

      • JonnyJD_
and yes, I will add that link to install.txt
      • 2013-11-01 30519, 2013

      • JonnyJD_
luks: should that wiki be updated that installing MinGW is actually not necessary, though?
      • 2013-11-01 30529, 2013

      • luks
if you know how to make it work without mingw-get
      • 2013-11-01 30541, 2013

      • JonnyJD_
and that wiki page should probably be linked at the picard page
      • 2013-11-01 30556, 2013

      • JonnyJD_
      • 2013-11-01 30547, 2013

      • luks
that does not directly answer the question :)
      • 2013-11-01 30513, 2013

      • luks
        e.g. with "Add C:\MinGW\bin to %PATH%" I know it's usable by picard's setup.py
      • 2013-11-01 30551, 2013

      • luks
I wrote that page primarily for myself, because I could never remember how to setup picard build env
      • 2013-11-01 30509, 2013

      • luks
so I wanted it to explain every step needed
      • 2013-11-01 30517, 2013

      • JonnyJD_
luks: yes, you need to add gettext to the path, but apart from that snartal got it working like that
      • 2013-11-01 30544, 2013

      • luks
all I'm saying is that if you update the page, people make sure it works without any additional steps not mentioned there
      • 2013-11-01 30549, 2013

      • JonnyJD_
What I don't know is, if translations actually works like that
      • 2013-11-01 30553, 2013

      • JonnyJD_
        snartal: ^ ?
      • 2013-11-01 30531, 2013

      • snartal
        translations?
      • 2013-11-01 30519, 2013

      • JonnyJD_
snartal: well, if you switch the language for picard, does it get translated or does it stay all in english?
      • 2013-11-01 30504, 2013

      • JonnyJD_
though I am not sure if you can easily switch the language on Windows to test that
      • 2013-11-01 30544, 2013

      • JonnyJD_
snartal: does "LANG=fr picard.exe" change the language for you? (not sure if it works like that on Windows..)
      • 2013-11-01 30503, 2013

      • Freso
        I don't think it does.
      • 2013-11-01 30517, 2013

      • Freso
But snartal should be able to change the language from within Picard.
      • 2013-11-01 30552, 2013

      • Freso
It only uses system language by default, it can be configured to use whatever is wanted.
      • 2013-11-01 30525, 2013

      • JonnyJD_
        Freso, snartal: Options->extended->user interface->language

      • JonnyJD_
Freso: yes, I that was more like a CC in "I told snartal"
      • 2013-11-01 30538, 2013

      • Freso
        Right. ;)
      • 2013-11-01 30556, 2013

      • Freso

      • 2013-11-01 30508, 2013

      • JonnyJD_ didn't found it the first time he checked, so using LANG= was easier at least for me *g*

        :)
      • 2013-11-01 30533, 2013

      • JonnyJD_
I should maybe try building picard on Windows myself in a VM to make sure, but actually I also have other things to do now..
      • 2013-11-01 30547, 2013

      • JonnyJD_
well, unless snartal would like to change the wiki?

      • 2013-11-01 30517, 2013

I for example have commit rights for musicbrainzngs, but I don't have rights to enable hooks
      • 2013-11-01 30527, 2013

      • JonnyJD_
that is probably something only the "musicbrainz" user can do
      • 2013-11-01 30558, 2013

      • Freso
Ah. I thought "musicbrainz" was an org. account, but it does seem like it's a user one.
