No, it's a database of information about music, which other sites and programs use. There's a tagger called MusicBrainz Picard which can embed information into music files, but no MusicBrainz media player

well there are only a couple of people who are paid, plus a few who volunteer, the rest of the people on the channel either work on related projects or are just interested :)

I think I've asked this before, but would patches contributing it to the site iteslf be well received?

the plan was to do that and bitmap was doing that at some point, although it never got finished for reasons I don't remember

probably best to ask him about it

(if for no other reason than it would be silly to start from the beginning if he has some branch somewhere with a version that hasn't completely bitrotted by now)
