since it's a lossless codec, if you burn the ape + cue you end up with exact same as the original
      • lindestinel
you store hundred of cds in your hard disk ? O_o
      • DJKC
only thing you don't get are data tracks if the CD has them
      • yes
      • ramoz
        me to
      • DJKC
some as ape + cue,. some as individual mp3 files, and some as mp3 + cue
      • depends on when I ripped them
      • and how much I liked them
      • the individual track mp3 files aren't reliable for generating disc IDs from
      • but the cue + * ones are

100 albums in ape format is > 30Go
      • DJKC
        it's not that uncomoon though
      • a coworker has a ~2tb array on his network
      • that he sticks all his albums and dvds on unencoded
      • so he can play them with HTPC or from any computer on the network
      • I should say, not that uncommon among the people I know
      • yalaforge
        cool
      • lindestinel
        heh
      • DJKC
which tend to be in the "decent paying jobs" and "large dvd/cd collections" circles
      • also the "own 3-4 computers minimum" segment -_-;
      • lindestinel wants a decent paying job
      • ramoz
        uhm
      • yalaforge wants a decent paying without a job
      • look what i created
      • people are actually talking here
      • yalaforge
        happens from time to time
      • usually cikkolata keeps us busy here ;-)

do you think 8.0gb is enough for a full mb_server installation? this time i want to do it right ;)
      • yalaforge
        make it 10. MB grows
      • g0llum summs
      • djce
You know, after Sunday I'm really going to miss the login box jumping around in Mozilla.
      • It kind of makes MB unique :-)
      • yalaforge
        AS has it, too
      • djce
        oh - cool
      • yalaforge
doesn't jump as far as ours, however
      • djce
        Yay! We're #1!
      • yalaforge
        as usual :-)
      • lindestinel
login box are jumping ? oO
      • djce
Yes, for some reason (Mozilla bug presumably) the login form moves around when you try to click "Log in".
      • lindestinel
        never saw that with firefox
      • yalaforge
we could keep it as a test. to keep drunk moderators out
      • yalaforge noticed it on firefox, too
      • g0llum
        that's a nice idea yala :)
      • lindestinel have to test
      • yalaforge envisions a java script that moves the button on onMouseOver
      • lindestinel
the mb login box just increase its size
      • funny
      • g0llum
doesn't do that on firefox 1.0 on winxp
      • lindestinel
        i have the same config
      • g0llum
        interesting.
      • yalaforge
perhaps it only works if you weren't logged in previously
      • on my firefox, it only jumps when I log in for the first time
      • ruaok
RedGreenBlue: if you want to tinker with the APE and monkey audio stuff, let me know.
      • so, I've just gotten word that we've purchased two machines.
      • yalaforge
        cool. how are they integrated?
      • ruaok
Both are Supermicro dual Xeons 2.4 Ghz, 4GB RAM, SCSI-III.
      • yalaforge
I suppose TRM generation is moved off to a server on its own
      • ruaok
One with a single 72Gb hot swap drive and one with two.
      • All we need is a zero channel raid controller from supermicro and we can place one of them ASAP.
      • currently they are not integrated at all.
      • they don't even have names yet. (hint hint)
      • :-)
      • yalaforge
        uh. I'm totally uncreative
      • ruaok
I won't actually get them until next weekend.
      • yalaforge
I'll pass my naming rights off to cikkolata
      • ruaok
        They are coming via punk-express.
      • yalaforge: ok.
      • yalaforge
naming is the hardest thing when installing an os
      • ruaok goes to pay for the machines
      • ramoz

      • haha
      • g0llum
i'd like zoidberg (from futurama) <
      • or nibbler :p
      • ruaok
futurama and invader zim are out.
      • djce: I think we need to relax the non-animal non-human rule.
      • g0llum
        doh
      • djce can think of several candidates... but isn't allowed to say :-)
      • theem experiences the jumping login right now
      • theem
i always wondered if i was the only person getting that

tehe... have you people read the article about norway & the law that will forbid ripping copied cd's? it's all on slashdot :p
      • s/copied/copyprotected/
      • canidae sighs
      • this country is turning into another usa, i fear
      • ruaok
canidae: I read it and thought of you.
      • canidae
i heard it this morning on the radio... it's ridiculous
      • djce is back (gone 01:21:57)
      • the only ones that will obey that law will be the ones that don't have a computer (or a copyprotected cd)
      • DJKC
I'm pretty sure that's not actually illegal yet
      • lindestinel has quit
      • so you'd be one upping us
      • selling the software to allow someone to do it may be illegal, doing it isn't though. so congrats if they manage to pass that ^^
      • canidae
i wouldn't be surprised if they manage to pass that on... we got a suicidal priest as prime minister... since he "got in charge", this community has gone in a steep downhill
      • djce
g0llum: so... what happened at script #3?
      • ruaok
djce: got a q for you.
      • one at link edit/remove mods.
      • s/one/on/
      • there are quite a few values to show before and after an edit mod.
      • but only one Prev field.
      • should the prev field be treated like the new field and have a serialized hash in it?
      • or just as plain text?
      • djce
you mean for display, or storage?
      • ruaok
        storage
      • djce
I've been treating "new" as storage for anything
      • (old, new, whatever)
      • ruaok
        ah. ok.
      • I just wanted to follow a convention if we had one.
      • its never too late to start, ya'know?
      • ;-)
      • djce
The translation between DB columns and display is an implementation detail specific to each mod type.
      • ruaok

djce: i'm just running the import scripts manually. but it seems to go along nicely
      • djce
you overcame your previous problem (mentioned a few hours ago)?
      • g0llum
i had no problem. script 3 essentially is runnin ./admin/Initdb and then the imports
      • djce
        ok, good then
      • g0llum
only thing that's not perfect is that you have to drop the db and the user before running Initdb
      • +manually
      • djce
Does the script not do that?
      • or does it try and fail?
      • Well, it does try... and if it fails, the script should stop.
      • So I'd appreciate any insight you can offer as to why it's failing, or why it's not being attempted.
      • anyway... back for more hacking in the morning.
      • night all :-)
