a very quick question. Going through the U2 listings, I see several bootlegs have release dates, either just a year or a year and month. How on earth can you attach a release to a bootleg. They usually just sort of trickle out.

unless they're released by some "institution"

no - these seem to come from all over the place. I have found a good U2 website which lists quite a few of them, but very few with release dates. Should the date be left or deleted

I have confirmed release dates for some Nick Cave/Birthday Party live bootlegs. There are vinyl/CD releases

a very good point juhae - then, on the balance of probabilities, since they are not harming anyone, they might as well be left alone

I'd add a release date to some of the more recent net-released bootlegs. If they appeared in a certain month or so. A lot of those appear pretty soon after the concert date, but of course with older bootlegs that got released via "underground" presses it's almost impossible to get a clear date. Often you don't even know the year.
