Hi guys. Any proper editors around? I added an artist which was an autoedit, and then added the first release for the artist, which now has a change pending...
      • Can someone vote that in for me? I have the CD here and I know it's valid...
      • FauxFaux
Why do you desperately need it voting in?
      • mke
I added it so I can 'verify' it at home, since my scripts verify against musicbrainz
      • and i can't listen to it until it's verified, that would totally, you know, go against the order of things!
      • foolip
        mke: ?
      • FauxFaux
mke: It's "in" the database as soon as the edit is entered, it can just be removed again. :)
      • foolip
why don't you just tag it and listen, it doesn't have to be accepted for you to find it via picard or similar
      • mke
FauxFaux: hm. i tried searching for it, but i can't even find it...
      • foolip
anyway, paste the edit link and maybe I will give it a vote
      • mke, you need to use direct search
      • FauxFaux
mke: The search indexes aren't updated very often.
      • mke
        aha, i see.
      • Muz_
< mke> FauxFaux: hm. i tried searching for it, but i can't even find it

      • Muz_
Are we talking about Maddy Mccann?
      • Muz_ hides
      • mke
        funny. :P
      • FauxFaux
        McHawt.
      • Muz_
        You cunt
      • foolip
        OMG, it's german!!
      • Muz_
I just spewed apple tango all over my tv :(
      • mke

        mmmm
      • anyone want to look at the latest prototype for album view? imho, looks sweet :)
      • Muz_ does
      • html on the way :)
      • Muz_
        :)
      • brianfreud
ignore the code - rough and ugly to get the proto done :)
      • Muz_
        You're not DCCing it right?
      • brianfreud
lol, have somewhere I can toss it instead?
      • Muz_
        Erm good point
      • brianfreud needs some sort of hosting :P
      • Got it :)
      • brianfreud
        :)
      • Muz_
I just hate irssi and DCC
      • brianfreud
true, but easy for small stuff with no server to host it
      • Kanmu has quit
      • Muz_
        Damn ssh tunnels
      • brianfreud
        lol
      • Muz_ is getting confuzzled
      • Muz_
        Right, finally got it
      • brianfreud does it the easy way...
      • This irssi instance is on my office machine
      • Oooh perty
      • IT's a bit... wide
      • And the images a tad to big, could kill two birds with one stone ;)
      • brianfreud
      • well, the idea is that the images be configurable,
      • Muz_
        Mmm
      • brianfreud
so you can set how small or big you want them in prefs, and it lays out the listings accordingly
      • Muz_
That could effect displaying the release data though
      • :/
      • brianfreud
yeah, any smaller than this in image size, I don;'t think the components could shrink more
      • but you could double the cover image if you wanted, etc
      • Muz_
It's too big if you ask me
      • Nightmare on the minwidth :/
      • brianfreud
actually, it ended up looking almost ipod to me :P
      • Muz_
Don't make me use the 800x600 test!
      • :P
      • brianfreud
lol, I design on 1180x768 - right now, it's all just absolute positions, to get stuff in the right place
      • Muz_
        Mmm
      • brianfreud
idea is that, done right, it'd wrap the divs to fit your screen
      • Muz_
How would it handle artists, like say, Iron Maiden whom have a hell of a lot of albums
      • brianfreud
        page after page :P
      • Muz_
        :/
      • Not sure I agree with that, makes it more tedious when tagging with picard and the browser manually
      • brianfreud
rather, screen after screen, all on one page
      • Muz_
Or just finding releases in general
      • brianfreud
        this isn't for tagging though
      • it's the "no editing, just showing cover art and basic info" view
      • Muz_
        Ahhh gotcha
      • brianfreud
suppliment to the current view, not a replacement
      • Muz_
I can see this view being useful for editing though
      • brianfreud
the other half of the idea, which I've not re-proto'd, is that you could flip to edit mode in this,
      • Muz_
Like picking up opn missing ARs
      • brianfreud
for release-urls, and it'd go single release per row
      • yup
      • Muz_
        oooh
      • Hmm
      • Muz_ had an idea
      • brianfreud
earlier version of the view proto was http://s2.photobucket.com/albums/y48/brianfreud...
      • Muz_
Maybe when I get back to my flat and it's awesome connection, and have my mythtv/new dev server set up, look into giving you some webspace
      • brianfreud
        lol
      • that'd be cool :)
      • Muz_
Shouldn't be too hard, given you know how to use ssh and a linux terminal :P
      • brianfreud glances at "Linux for dummies"
      • mv cp rm and mkdir, possibly all you'd want :P
      • brianfreud
yeah, I can dredge the old UNIX out of the recesses of my brain :D
      • ok, new proto'd edit mode (ignore that the text fields are all unaligned...) http://s2.photobucket.com/albums/y48/brianfreud...
      • Cellardoor
hola the unalignment is really problematic
      • brianfreud: the stuff about release-event is not immediately clear (bottom)
      • i mean, you get it after looking at it a 2nd or 3rd time but it's irritating
      • eh
      • Cellardoor goes to work on inkscape
      • brianfreud
        more so than now?
      • Cellardoor
        it shall be relaxing!
      • brianfreud: erm
      • brianfreud
in terms of not IDing the columns, I mean
      • Cellardoor
brianfreud: yeah because it's also stretched
      • brianfreud
in both modes, or just edit mode?
      • Cellardoor
1990 United States Official <- makes it hard to read
      • brianfreud: no the other was good
      • brianfreud
In view mode there's really just not the space, but I guess in edit mode there's plenty of space :)
      • have to stretch it some, cause
      • 1990 United States Official
      • could also be
      • 1990-10-12 Union of Soviet Socialist Republics Bootleg
      • well, given that date, I guess it couldn't quite be that country name, but lol, you get the idea :D
      • Muz_
        Fuuuuuuck
      • Muz_ just realised that these usb ports are 1.1 D:
      • brianfreud
        ouch
      • Muz_
        Yeah :(
      • Cellardoor
        brianfreud: btw it's me d/c
      • o_O
      • brianfreud: ah
      • brianfreud: well ok but i think it's more important that it's readable and recognizable rather
      • so something like
      • brianfreud
        d/c?
      • Cellardoor
        1990 / United States / Status: Official
      • brianfreud: deadchip..
      • and:
      • brianfreud
        ah, ok
      • Cellardoor
        1990-10-12 / USSR / Status: Bootleg
      • would be much better
      • no matter that it's not always "column aligned"
      • brianfreud
yes, but then if you have 5 events, they don't line up
      • Cellardoor
well ok _if_ you have more, then you can make them line up
      • but with just one there's no need to strecth the columns, and it looks confusing
      • brianfreud
wouldn't just column titles in edit mode be cleaner?
      • Cellardoor
brianfreud: but at least please add "Status:" in front of the status
      • brianfreud: yeah or that
      • right
      • well ok if there are column headers then Status could be one of them and it serves the same purpose
      • even for people who know their way around MB it can be confusing i think; at least it requires a 2nd look which ideally shouldn't be needed
      • sweet christ
      • Cellardoor gives up on inkscape for today
      • i thought, ok for fun, i could code there a little, but it's all so mixed up
      • brianfreud
      • theoretically, too, if/when we ever have the ability to attach ARs for cover and such directly to the events, the line(s) in events could also be selectable here, to switch between the different ARs for those events
      • Cellardoor
yeah ok this is better except, maybe the headers should be a shade of the grey background (slight blue?) instead of similar to the overall header
      • maybe not a really important difference
      • but generally it's good
