I've been doing puid submissions via your script, then double checking for any that get skipped ("No MB ID", etc) by loading into picard and re-scanning, then checking on the ones that don't get a positive puid match from the site.

I found that some small number did have puids, had identical tags to the site, yet at 75% puid similarity, they weren't finding matches at MB.

symphonick, this library was previously organized by itunes but i have no luck with itunes and this size of a library

Seems that if a file has a decently long name, 50+ characters, and it has a : in the trackname tag, even when there's a puid match, and the tags are identical (as in just tagged from MB), at 75% on puid, they don't match.

Had to drop it down to 50% to get it to match up...

figured maybe something was funky in your similarity % routine

100% identical tag, with puid match, but no match found at 75% (ie, similarity ought to have been calculated to be 100%, was only calculating to 50%)

I found it on 50 or so out of 3500 files - every single instance it was if a) tracktitle length was 50+ chars, and b) tracktitle contained : ... and only those cases.

ah, so it finds a match if you lower it

figured it had something to do with how picard calculates puid similarity

brianfreud, the top left file tree panel im selecting the directory and its not scanning at all but it doesent work if i do it pretty much any other way but i could try them one more time jsut to be 100$

without having files in the left lower panel

its not finding the files within the containing directory structure if theres more than one level of directories

i didnt mean to get it confused with scanning the tags

still not sure what exactly is "finding the files"

then you click on it and expect it to list all files in the left bottom panel?

yeah, ubuntu has "no mp3 in main" policy

so it's not installed by default

yeah it would be nice if ubuntu would allow an option somewhere in the install to grab those files off the bat kus its slightly inconveniencing having to grab em for every install

I loaded a livecd of ubuntu the other day on my laptop, was surprised how easy it was

I like that everything just works in ubuntu on common HW

loaded my wireless card, etc on first try

installing windows on this laptop would mean shuffling with a lot of various CDs

i do want a macbook pro but ill wait for one to not cost me an arm leg and a kidney
