Brian: what happens when global warming causes that particular piece of greenland to become water...then your map points to water
      • brianfreud
*shrug* doesn’t change where it was recorded...
      • Infinito_ joined the channel
      • lol... “Trivia: Tracks recorded in places now under water”
      • drsaunde likes the Donovan song Atlantis
      • drsaunde
but i don't think it was recorded there :-)
      • brianfreud
in a couple of cases, actually, it’s pretty close... a few of the northern tracks were recorded a hundred years ago on northern islands which are almost completely melted away
      • cooperaa is annoyed with the jackass downstairs blasting his subwoofer constantly and interupting Charlie Christian's serene guitar playing
      • drsaunde
the only way to fight someone's loud music is with your own even louder music
      • cooperaa
I tried telling him to STFU by blasting Lustmord's "Immersion" but I don't think they took the hint
      • brianfreud
        this is rather... disturbing...
      • cooperaa
        the very loud, house-rattling hint
      • brianfreud Alessandro Moreschi - The Last Castrato - Domine Salvum Fac Pontificem Nostrum Leonem (from "The Last Castrato - Complete Vatican Recordings") (02:49)
      • brianfreud
a 40 year old man ought to not be able to hit B6...
      • cooperaa
costrato = a boy with no balls who sings very high? :(
      • brianfreud
yeah, he was the last surviving member of the pope’s choir, back when the pope still had a castrati choir
      • cooperaa
        yipes
      • drsaunde
is it a derivative of castration?
      • brianfreud
I’d assume they come from the same latin root... or lack thereof...
      • cooperaa
        har har har
      • drsaunde
so...maybe this Moreschi lost his jewels strictly for your listening pleasure
      • cooperaa has 2 more hours to finish the Charlie Christian box set before the fiance finishes her night class!! better hurry!

I can't imagine being publicly known for being castrated
      • yahoo video? how many video sites do we need... sigh
      • brianfreud
I read a history book on them a while ago. Seems the castrati were HUGELY rich and famous... that is, the 20% who survived castration (80% mortality rate), and the 25% of those who survived who didn’t have their voice still go south due to swelling of the vocal chords during recovery
      • cooperaa
        wow 80% died?
      • crazy
      • brianfreud
        yeah
