lauri: Quickly browsed through all of them?
      • Freso
lauri: Dunno. They're kind of goth-ish, i think, and I like them. I'm not much into neither trance nor goth, so I'm not sure exactly what you're talking about, but, yeah. I think they're awesome. And they treat their fans excellently.
      • CatCat
i am so dumb. icoudl be listeign to white supremist shitznazz witotuh even knowing it :s
      • lauri
srotta heh, no, got about a page into one and found stuff to edit, and well
      • Freso
        BrianFreudf: What do you need?
      • yllona
        BrianFreudf: i have some portuguese...
      • BrianFreudf
trying to parse this email, figure which he maybe means
      • lauri
freso: i am not exactly genre bound :)
      • CatCat
        me either
      • as i said
      • BrianFreudf
so we don't post his email in logs, maybe join me a sec in #mbportugese ?
      • Kerensky97
I get that with some death metal bands I listen to. Since I can't understand a word should I be worried about what they're saying?
      • lauri
but i'll check em out :)
      • yllona
BrianFreudf: which e-mail? my portuguese is largely "conversational"
      • lauri
kerensky: i didn't used to, i do a little now, to be honest
      • CatCat
        gothtrance saounds isnteresting..
      • i liek metal!
      • :o
      • i liek lsots of stuff!
      • petros
        Like bronzee?
      • Or are you more of a silver man?
      • lauri
but lyrics are so bound to be interpreted however a listener wants
      • CatCat
        lauri: indeed
      • lauri
one of my favourite ever songs by one of my favourite ever bands, which is actually a rant about how the west ignored the civil war in the sudan
      • Kerensky97
I guess most international music I listen to could be saying things I don't agree with and I'd never understand. Ilona Mitrecey isn't nationalist is she? ;)
      • lauri
was quoted in the rantings of one of the columbine shooters
      • CatCat
        not that i know of
      • i seem to read it ias beign pretty trippy
      • but its probably sugarcoted girly boygcrush stuff or waever
      • lauri
luckily for them, the press screwed up and blamed it all on marilyn manson
      • CatCat
        wtflol
      • Freso
A lot of my fav. songs are anti-British imperialism...
      • Kerensky97
So singing along might be a bit weird.
      • CatCat
this song i live is caleld "nothing wrong with capitalism"
      • is oingo boing oagain
      • i am dead agasint cpaitalism though
      • but e sogn is cool
      • lauri
kerensky: meh, not as weird as walking in on my daughter and her teeny bopper at the time friends singing along to 'mein teil'
      • CatCat
        my tail?
      • Kerensky97
        :D
      • CatCat
        my side?
      • lauri
        more like, my thing
      • CatCat
        main löl
      • lauri
in several context (it's a pun...)
      • CatCat
        mein löl
      • Now grooving to: Björk ~ Army of Me (3:56) (from Tank Girl) (1995)
      • Freso
        mein light öl.
      • CatCat
its a ironic becasue i have my "randomcrap" thing playing on partymix now so
      • yes
      • lauri
i don't think i should explain _that_ song, it might make catcat's eyes explode :)
      • Freso
        mein liebe öl! :D
      • CatCat
.. why do you think that?
      • petros
        your oil?
      • CatCat
        løl
      • is it sex or violence?
      • lauri
        both
      • CatCat
        hah
      • petros
        and food ;)
      • Freso
CatCat: Is that an exclusive or?
      • lauri
        yeah, and food :)
      • BrianFreudf
lol, I just tend to go with "do I like it" and forget any meaning the band may intend.
      • CatCat
"forfully showing the banana in her cunt, YEA!" ?
      • lauri
        catcat: på svenska
      • CatCat
svesnk er bra, jeg forstår det
      • lauri
        jag vet :)
      • CatCat
        ooohhh
      • lauri
        now you get it?
      • CatCat
        "my *thing"
      • aha
      • lauri
and why finding a bunch of 12 year old girls singing along was... disconcerting :)
      • CatCat
        no, awsome
      • oh and thius too
      • Now grooving to: Oingo Boingo ~ Little Girls (3:43) (from Only a Lad) (1981)
      • FauxFaux
        Little Girls. <3
      • CatCat
        disturbing
      • :D
      • lauri
        well timed
      • CatCat
"i love , little girls, they make me feels so good" O_o
      • indeed
      • oingo boing ft perverse w
      • yllona
CatCat: next you'll need "only a lad"
      • CatCat
        yes, like this song also
      • and "nast habbits"
      • yllona
yep. nasty habits is my favorite
      • CatCat
        nasty habits
      • lauri
this report is gonna keep me busy for years
      • is 'feta kuli' with a track that seems to be a john lee hooker cover, an ironic choice of naming, or a really stupid typo?
      • ruaok
        dead man party. :)
      • mans
      • CatCat
        <3
      • Clint
        who could ask for more
      • CatCat
i need more oingo boingo albums
      • really
      • yllona
i used to sneak in and see them perform when they were "the mystic knights of oingo boingo". more like performance art / musical theater back then
      • CatCat
        yes i know
      • lauri
the world needs more oingo boingo
      • CatCat
i got the forbiden zone soundtrack
      • last.fm
      • <3
      • danny elfman for the collosal win
      • BrianFreudf
LEave your body and soul at the door :)
      • CatCat
        ja!
      • oh god i love that dsong
      • Clint
        what is the law
      • BrianFreudf
and Elfman... Edward Scissorhands, great soundtrack :)
      • CatCat
dont make me order it no amazon! i cant efford it now i have teh monies problems, i have yet to pay my 4000 kr bill :(
      • yllona
CatCat: danny is an amazing performer, much less so as a soundtrack composer... too repetitive and derivative
      • CatCat
i must say i disagree, i really really love his soudntrack stuff
      • yllona
CatCat: it all sounds the same
      • BrianFreudf
I'd tend to agree with mo, but I also tend to like repetative sounding stuff
      • yllona
but if you like that sound -- go for it
      • CatCat
it is higly amusing ot hear forbiden zone and know that he is ironically doing this first, then doing the "band" dynamical thing for then t ogo back to the original thing he did
      • BrianFreudf
I still want Philip Glass's work for Sesame Street to come out on CD
      • CatCat
it is very varied, it definitly has repeatetive stuff ,but as BrianFreudf said, i like repedative stuff yes
      • yllona
BrianFreudf: when i said repetitive, not in in the steve reich / phillip glass "minimalist" manner.
      • CatCat
there is nothing wrong with repeadative
      • BrianFreudf
      • CatCat
        take the bolero by ravel
      • most repedative calsical music evert
      • most classical music is repadative
      • it keeps repeating a team in variation
      • BrianFreudf
yllona: yeah, he does tend to over-reuse themes, but so long as I take him with a grain of salt and accept that, I'm fine with Elfman
      • yllona
danny elfman truly is repetitive,of his own work. too much use of the computer for composing
      • CatCat
oh yea that. i saw it before, it was fing trippy
      • lawl
      • yllona
CatCat: ravelwas not a fan of bolero himself, he described it as hack work
      • ruaok runs home and will be back shortly
      • ruaok has quit
      • CatCat
        so what?
      • *I* liek it
      • BrianFreudf
only time it annoys me, I really liked the theme in Scissorhands... and every few movies I watch that Elfman scored, I end up rehearing that theme, but some skewed version of it
      • yllona
CatCat: ie music for people who don't like melody
      • CatCat
BrianFreudf: that i can definitly agree with
      • yllona: you are starting to irritate me, are you saing i am not "leet" enough becasue i live elfman?
      • BrianFreudf
yllona: tells you something about my tastes then that I can listen to Music for 18 Musicians over and over and over :)
      • CatCat
        love*
      • i also love msuic from game soundtracks
      • yllona
no, as ia sid above -- if you like that sound -- go for it
      • CatCat
take pokemon, the mount moon theme is awsome
      • yllona
        *as i said
      • CatCat
yes, but "yllonabut if you like that sound -- go for it" just coems of as arrogant and patronizing, i realise you amy not intend this
      • i appologise
      • yllona
and i've been a huge fan of oingo boingo, up to and including sneaking into their stage shows as a pre-teen
      • BrianFreudf
I'd suggest the same could easily be said about John Williams and James Horner, though I'll happily listen to both :)
      • CatCat
        BrianFreudf: i agree :O
      • :) i meant
      • nikki
srotta: no unicode on that page? :(
      • CatCat
        all music is repeadative
      • take
