luks: would it be at all possible to be able to search within edits? like for artist-url in add relationships or say, time changes in a merged edit track edit

nikki: I'm thinking about adding edit type flags to the moderation table

so that edit types will be separate from the code (the current edit types) that handles them

and it would be possible to search for specific AR edits, too

i'm not particularly asking for them now, i'm just checking my even wanting to merge it is not completely insane

the only thing I can think of is if there are some good edits and some bad edits within the same one... but that's always a problem

yeah, i'd say the one with more edit history should always be merge target

and then adjusted to be correct, if necessary, after the merge

you could do a normal edit track name now and correct one thing and make something else bad

okay, folks on the michael jackson/paul mccartney collabs: the album owner gets first marquee -- end of story. as for msuic publishing (ie composer), that's another story. those rights are *heavily negotiated*. it's not about "who sings first"

I had a suspicion that was so, but wasn't sure enough to bring it up in the edit

and "who sings first" is also part of the negotiation

so for those two artists especially, it's all contractual -- not artistic :)

yllona: just caught up on the scrollback; That may be the order on albums, but my understanding was we just use alphabetical order....

no "who sang first" or "who owns the album" or anything like that - just "we know it's a hack until we can do it right with multiple artists"

i use whatever order is on the album i'm adding them from

and if someone says 'but they're much more commonly credited other way around', and shows me some cites, i wouldn't argue with that either

but for the michael jackson / paul mccartney collabs. michael jacson first. really no discusion needed her.

if the next one is a compilation, i don't care heh, i just use the existing artist entry

and i find the order rarely reverses between actual releases by actual collabs, if they're doing whole albums together

me either; it's a hack, the order long-term is meaningless anyhow

i mean, c s & n, didn't randomly switch their names around on albums

oh, I don't mean that type of & - Peter, Paul and Mary, etc.

but it's very difficult to tell them apart sometimes

I mean "John Bob & Foo Smith & Bar Cruise" etc
