Heh, det er sdanne kommentarer fra min en af mine favoritmusikere der (ironisk) beder om en kompliment fra et nrt bandmedlem i et musik interview, der gr ham vrd at hre p:

MCCOLLUM: I gave you a compliment before. Remember? I interjected . . .

DULLI: Your interjections are too cryptic for my mortal mind. I want a full-on compliment here.

That's boring! I called you the greatest slide player since Duane Allman, and all you can say about me is that I progressed!??! You make it sound like I'm cancer or something! Tumours progress! I'm your friend! Your singer! Your bandmate! Your co-guitar player! I want some damn respect!!!!
fucked up everything. allowed all submissions and edits to go live straight away, removed the voting queue, removed the ability to reject releases. basically removed all controls from submissions and removed the abilty to find subs and edits

nothing seems to have been tested, the edit history disappeared for most releases, no notification was being given to comments on edits, watch lists (subscribed artists) disappeared

and a large amount of the community left because the discogs management refused to admit that anything was wrong

I still get no notification of edits made to releases/artists in my collection. I just get a list of new submissions to artists I'm not subscribed to

yep, it annoys that discogs state they are a community database while the actively censor and ignore their community. 600+ discogs users have declared their disastisfaction with the latest changes and 70 moerators are left or refuse to moderate, and discogs still deny anything is wrong

myself and others are extremely pissed off that the countless, thankless hours spent moderating and expanding their database are now deemed worthless by discogs. They have shown time & time again this year that they don't give a fuck about their "community"

theres about 250 ex discogs mods and users actively trying to create a community built/community managed non profit alternative to discogs. I hope they succeed
mudcrow: I guess it just tells me "get the data out of these asap before they collapse!"

luks, nice, been working on the AR end of that
2008-04-01 09214, 2008

yes, BrianFreud there are worries that with the instant live edits and lack of edit history, a lot of discogs data will be quickly corupted
2008-04-01 09239, 2008
BrianFreud
luks, actually... It'd be really easy to toss together a (FF only) script to add a link to Discogs, and auto-click the 2 buttons on that page... instant Discogs import script...

(if you don't plan to add the functionality to MB directly anyhow)

BrianFreud: the release editor doesn't allow AR editing
2008-04-01 09254, 2008
luks
do there is no easy way to do that right now
2008-04-01 09201, 2008
BrianFreud
mudcrow: to be honest, though, it seems more like their problem is that they added real editing functionality, without making it clear just what is or isn't actually voted through. looking at a history like http://www.discogs.com/history?release=1257120 , it looks like what would happen if you made all editors at MB autoeditors

uh.. so discogs goign wtfery wasnt an april fools joke?
2008-04-01 09241, 2008

luks: I know. I have been doing it the hard way, mapping each and every Discogs AR to one of ours, finding those that can't be mapped, and disassembling the POST made by each and every form on MB
2008-04-01 09204, 2008
BrianFreud
is beyond a pain to pull off atm
2008-04-01 09213, 2008

the data need to be reviewed first
2008-04-01 09236, 2008

and if I'm going to implement that, I'll rather implement it as part of the release editor :)

yes, BrianFreud and removed the edit search. and removed your edit and voting history.

I agree; that's part of what I was working on... how to put that into a GUI without the GUI being insanely overcomplex to understand
