Is there a way to make picard write ID3-tags to FLAC-files aswell? My stupid MP3-player wont handle FLAC metadata properly. :/

peh: no
peh
oh well :/
Wizzcat
you use flac on your mp3 player?
peh
why not? :)
Wizzcat
bit excessive if you ask me :p
peh
heh, well.. it's an iAudio 7. it has 16 GBs of flash memory.
Wizzcat
same as me, except I have the 8GB one :(
peh
sound quality is awesome, but its software is slightly braindead :/
Wizzcat
too bad it doesn't have proper ogg support, have to transcode to crappy mp3
rockbox is coming for it soon though, soon as it's stable I'll change to ogg -2 or something like that
FauxFaux runs out of space on his 20gb iRiver, at q3 ogg (circa 100kbps)
peh
yea, I noticed that. :/
Wizzcat
half the size of mp3
peh
well I certainly hope so. I'd like rockbox very much
Wizzcat
I used it on my old x5, it's.. rocking
peh
btw, do you run Linux?
warp
Wizzcat: i use flac on my pmp
peh
I'm having some transfer speed issues with my iAudio. I know there's a supposed fix for it (reformatting the drive with 16 KB cluster size), but it doesn't seem to work for me :/
if only they could make a PMP with 300+ GB harddrive and 60+ hours runtime. *drool*
warp
Wizzcat: not because I need the sound quality, but I can't be bothered to transcade everything.
i just want reliable 3G coverage in my area, then I can just stream from home :)
FauxFaux
peh: You can get 2.5" 250gb flash drives, that has to help. :)
Whip open an iRiver, plonk one in..
peh
heh, well.. there's still the issue of runtime :P
Wizzcat
warp: well if you have lots of space then sure, but for me it's probably faster to transcode+transfer than transfer a huge file
not to mention I can fit in 10x as much music
warp
Wizzcat: ah, i probably don't have much cpu power :)
FauxFaux
Wait, how big is flac, 5mb/minute ish?
warp
FauxFaux: depends on the source
Wizzcat
bit more I think
warp
FauxFaux: I have some albums which hardly get smaller when going from .wav to .flac
Wizzcat
8-900kbit?
FauxFaux
The ish was a short version of "cd sourced audio of modern pop music". ¬_¬
Average bitrate across that NiN release is 1801kbps, but that's obviously not realistic.

Massively parallel encode of 11-track cd from wav to flac and vorbis works suprisingly well.
948 kbps for that cd in flac. :)
warp wonders how to see the bitrate of a .flac file.
Foobar knows, you could estimate it with du and the length, though.
Unless you put 600dpi png'd cover art scans in the tags, 'cos losing information you can't see or hear is obviously not cool.
</not a flac fan>
Wizzcat prefers to live without transcoding noise after X generations of new audio formats
warp gives up and goes about fixing the music server machine.
When I can't find a single PC player that'll play vorbis, or I can suddenly tell the difference between q7 vorbis and cd quality, I'm perfectly happy to re-rip my stuff. :)
hawke_ catches fire.
warp
ripping is such an ordeal for me, i definitely only want to do that once.
Wizzcat
not to mention that it's hard to rerip music you borrow from others/library
warp is currently unable to rip any new cds.

I'm adding cover ARs to a track, but it has two tracks, one is hidden after some silence. Do I just add both cover ARs to the track and hope people are smart enough to figure things out or is this impossible?
