Is there a reason for having a track named "United States of Eurasia / Collateral Damage" instead of "United States of Eurasia (+Collateral Damage)" as it is printed on the CD cover?
      • Mineo
that question's a bit hard to answer without context
      • ZaphodBeeblebrox
vorspeil *is* forplay. that which is played before (the real concert part etc)
      • it is in norway roo
      • Mineo
if both "usoe" and "collateral damage" are songs on their own, the reason is probably http://musicbrainz.org/doc/Style/Titles/Multipl...
      • ZaphodBeeblebrox
        lol wagner vorspiel \o/
      • ZaphodBeeblebrox is just imagining this in the context of what most norwegians consider "voirspiel"
      • eh
      • noobie
        lol ZaphodBeeblebrox
      • same in german ^^
      • xandora
Mineo: Thanks. I guess the first song finishes, then there's a sort of interlude until the end of the recording.
      • ZaphodBeeblebrox
th1rtyf0ur: did you say you had a modified script that could batch edit some works' language?
      • seriously?
      • I can has??
      • ZaphodBeeblebrox is amused that people complain about cold septembers..

      • nikki
        that's cheap?
      • whether it's a 2 track cd or shampoo, it's expensive either way :P

Hi everyone. I asked a question at the forums, I'd be delighted if someone could answer. http://forums.musicbrainz.org/viewtopic.php?id=...
      • Alex___
        hello
      • reosarevok
        heh, pregap
      • Sami-Perkele
I wouldn't have even known it if Morituri hadn't ripped it for me :)
      • reosarevok
Pregap is weird in that we can't even add them normally to CDs
      • Usually they're added as a standalone recording
      • (unless that's changed by now, but I don't think so - IIRC it's a downside of the discID system)
      • Sami-Perkele
Still that question has nothing to do with it being a pregap..
      • reosarevok
        Well, it kinda does
      • Since for a recording title, you could probably just name it however you feel like it should be named :)
      • (while for a tracklist it's a bit weird with extra tracks)
      • Sami-Perkele
Should I add it as track 0 in tracklist?
      • reosarevok
I'd probably call it just Sheikki Ali Omar Hassan and put (rehearsal) or whatever on the disambiguation comment for the recording, I think
      • That's the thing, it won't even let you if you have a discID
      • (since discIDs don't include pregap)
      • JonnyJD_
it's less of a discID problem, then of a DB-problem. The disc ID/TOC does include that the first track start after a lot more than just 2 seconds pregap.
      • reosarevok
        Hmm
      • Ok
      • It's tricky in any case
      • JonnyJD_
the discid does include the amount of sectors before the first track, which is the pregap
      • (usually just 150 sectors = 2 seconds)
      • Sami-Perkele
Yes, I can't add it, this needs to be fixed. I'll just list it in annotation then.
      • JonnyJD_
some time ago we just just non-album-tracks for this. Does this still work with NGS?
      • reosarevok
Sami-Perkele: add a recording, and link it in the annotation
      • (that way you can relate it to the work, and add any other relevant info - and tag with it, even if it's not really tagged as part of the release)

hi nikki, isn’t there a ticket for this problem ? For a search hint add, you have to submit a sort name even if it’s not used in the end — but appears in the edit https://musicbrainz.org/edit/23702012 but HOPEFULLY not when you edit https://musicbrainz.org/work/2f4978a8-6ba7-35a7... nor when you search
      • nikki: wasn’t there an existing http://tickets.musicbrainz.org/browse/MBS-6737 too btw ?

      • kepstin-work: hey have a look at my latest JASRAC work importer http://i.imgur.com/M6j1pi8.png I’m so proud it gains me much time adds everything now (add work, credits, annotation, aliases) at once… it’s only missing submitting the lyrics URL from edit note to AR… it’s what i do next time
      • kepstin-work
jesus2099: heh, those UI additions look useful even without the jasrac import.
      • putting credits and aliases in at creation time would be convenient :)
      • jesus2099
without coming from JASRAC nor pasting a JASRAC content, you will only get the existing aliases, and type+lang button shortcuts i guess…
      • maybe i should make ADD ALIAS always show up ?
      • (it shows you existing aliases when editing an existing work)
      • but does not show you add alias if no jasrac
      • yet
      • another thing i’d like (lyrics and) is make a search for duplicate when you are about to add the work
      • kepstin-work only adds a work if he can't find an existing one, so that's not an issue.
      • derwin
        I want to add
      • remix credits are release creation time
      • reosarevok
        I want to substract!

      • That's kinda harder I suspect :)

kepstin-work: yeah me too :) it’s too much gadget indeed
      • kuno subtracts reosarevok
      • kepstin-work
reosarevok: well, at that point, you're pretty much just embedding the relationship editor into the release editor :)
      • reosarevok
kepstin-work: which might be useful, admittedly - but first we should make the release editor less brittle
      • Let's see how the GSoC ends up :)
      • jesus2099
kepstin-work: the AR part is very stable i’ve been using it for months, the alias part is brand new and still unstable I guess… i have to test it with non japanese works to see if it does not suggest some funny stuff  :)
      • i use the release editor work search and if not found i have an opera search shortcut on JASRAC by name and import it then paste the MBID URL back in release editor (the importer gives you this MBID URL in its first steps)
      • with it, instead of being driven nuts when linking inexisting works, i can really shit back and relax
      • i’m so funny

i'm trying to tag an album that has 2 discs in it. when i use MBP to tag, all songs get put in one folder.
      • i have no idea what i'm doing wrong.
      • i have tried with the classic disk numbers plugin checked and unchecked, but it still gives me everything in one folder
      • noobie
it's supposed to be like that joltman
      • i think?
      • joltman
but it used to be that it would create folders
      • kepstin-work
joltman: there's some options that control this
      • noobie
it was changed but you can still make a rule in picard if you want extra folders i guess
      • joltman
        so it'd be Artist/year - album (disc 1)/track - artist - title.ext
      • kepstin-work
