hmm, that's probably fairly close to the NA use of "producer" as "the person responsible for the 'sound' or 'style' of the song"
Nyanko-sensei
ok. will add it like that
kepstin
'producer' is kind of confusing, since it can kind of mean either someone responsible for more or less overseeing/directing/managing the song production, or a person directly involved with the creation of the music
iirc, the later meaning is more common in e.g. hip-hop
the later meaning is probably closer to the japanese 'arranger' credit, really...
I think I should stop editing stuff for today. so sleepy, I forget some ridiculous things when adding stuff
Freso
In Soviet Russie, ridiculous things forget you.

KGB never forgets, never forgives
CatQuest
I have been de-pranked by my computer.. now the battery works again ¬_¬
well I hope so
Freso
Nyanko-sensei: The KGB aren't "ridiculous things" though.
Nyanko-sensei
that's why I continue adding new stuff *and fixing the things I forgot about/messed up

kloeri: set GOOGLE+ ON - SO MUCH ON!!1½! :o :osnt werkin1!1, sez NickServ: Invalid set command. Use /msg NickServ HELP SET for a command listing. omg, i need beta. ._.
we hope that'll bring more contributors to MB overall
Freso
That'd be great.
Btw, since there are French folks around... do you happen to know of any good free French rap/hiphop? :D
xram
more mainstream/hardcore or alternative?
reosarevok
Mainstream and hardcore aren't really the same thing anymore in France, are they :)

All?
reosarevok
I mean, I wouldn't call the recent Booba / Rohff / 113 albums "hardcore" but they sure are mainstream :)

Booba use quite a lot of autotune, but he's definitely the french gangsta idol
Freso
(I don't think mainstream and hardcore would be the same anywhere, even though mainstream seems to prefer "hardcore"/gangsta rap for whatever reason. :|)
reosarevok
Freso: I like Booba for some reason, even though the lyrics are terrible. Mafia K1 Fry are nice, of their subsets, 113 is good (the last album is a bit too mainstream but still ok), Kery James for a bit more hardcorish-but-political stuff
Oxmo Puccino for a more leftfield approach
Freso
Oh, snap I missed appending " releases" to the question.
reosarevok
IAM is of course the basic old-school choice
heh
Freso
I was thinking links to Bandcamp and DatPiff etc. :p
xram
and NTM
reosarevok
Oh, true :)
Freso: no Spotify?
Freso
No Spotify.
reosarevok
Most of this stuff is too mainstream for bandcamp and I don't think Frenchies use DP too much
Freso
Spotify's too limited in its selection. Ie., most interesting mixtapes aren't on Spotify.
*E.g.
reosarevok
Lotheric might have some ideas about more underground stuff I guess :)
Freso
LiveMixtapes, Jamendo, random French sites, etc. work as well.
Lotheric
I do but alas, I must leave for work :)

Lotheric: Coo'.
(I know I made a very small collection of French rap on Jamendo years ago, but never felt it was as good as it could be.)
