I'm a contributor for Redump.org, and I wish that we had such an awesome system.
Redump doesn't even have it's own API
This actually REALLY helps me out a bit since I broke one of my discs a while ago. And there are quite a few I can't be bothered to dig out

Here's a tip for people who like to use EAC: if you don't mind using an IDE to USB adapter, I've found that the HL-DT GCE-8483B is much faster than some of my newer drives.

ajshell1: you should have used cuetools/-ripper :p
for any ripped CD, it generates its own ID and DiscID in MB style :)
ajshell1: i still have my good old PX-760, which is enough for ripping ;)

SothoTalKer: Those Plextors are valuable! Redump only accepts CD dumps from those drives! Which is why I don't use EAC with them.
SothoTalKer
it depends on the type of disc, anything with audio tracks should be dumped by using a drive which is capable of overreading due to the offset issue.

it IS actually possible to use other drives too, but u need two of them and you must be lucky that they can overread. anyway, not the topic for this channel :))

I have a question. I have an audio book I picked up from a thrift store for a dollar. I want to add it to the database here, but I have some issues.
Problem 1: The author is writing under a pseudonym
Problem 2: I have no idea how to handle the "written by X and performed by Y" thing
Problem 3: This has two books in one set.
The good news is that each disc contains a title for each track.
So,So, can you give me a basic idea on how to add a disc like this? I already have 200 something normal music albums under my belt, so I sort of know what I'm doing there.
SothoTalKer
Problem 1 is not a problem, is it?
You would just add his pseudonym as a separate artist und link the legal name via a relationship.
Currently, we only have a 28 track version in the database
In 2014, he added another track, and then another in 2018. I'm definitely going to add the 30 track version, but should I add the 29 track version since it's sort of impossible to get now?
SothoTalKer
a pseudonym is the same as any artist name like "DJ blabla"
well, u cant get the 28 track version now, either?

Actually, if you bought the game's soundtrack on Humble Bundle, you still get the 28 track version IIRC

SothoTalKer
if it were a phyical release, each would be a separate one
ajshell1
Meh. I'll add it.
SothoTalKer
i hate digital releases (:

Same here. Give me CDs, give me FLAC, or give me death
