Is there any particular policy about trusting the tracklist on the case vs the tracklist on the medium?

RavenWorks, no particular policy that I'm aware of. I tend to favor the case, as it's my experience that the medium tends to be abbreviated or incomplete more often, but it depends a bit on the differences you're seeing.

Hi, I'm trying to understand why was https://musicbrainz.org/edit/61656955 done. Can anyone tell me why? I don't get why it's a duplicate or what it is a duplicate of.

That work is crap - it should either get Tomita as the arranger or be merged with a catch-all work - but this doesn't seem like an improvement

I agree

The app I'm doing detected that a work uuid my file had in a tag didn't exist in musicbrainz, and retagging the file didn't help, since picard doesn't remove existing tags that were removed in musicbrainz... but I'm not sure if that qualifies as a bug since indeed existing tags shouldn't be removed if the "Clear existing tags" options is not checked. Otoh we're talking about uuids, so maybe those tags should be an exception?

antlarr: If you want to to do this you can use scripting to clear the empty tag
2019-11-15 31913, 2019
antlarr
what do you mean? There's a script to do that?
2019-11-15 31907, 2019
outsidecontext
antlarr: use a script like $if($not(%musicbrainz_workid%),$delete(musicbrainz_workid))

hmmm, but musicbrainz_workid would be read from the file and so, have a value, isn't it?
2019-11-15 31921, 2019
outsidecontext
antlarr: no, the scripts operate on data loaded from musicbrainz and modify it. that's exactly what this does: if the work id is not provided, mark it for deletion

I mostly use the file naming scripting (I have a really LONG script there), and that operates at a different level I guess
2019-11-15 31923, 2019
outsidecontext
antlarr: yes, that generates the file name before saving, this is using the (updated) file tags
2019-11-15 31942, 2019

CatQuest: "total" → "binary", because "total" is (also) "the number two".

I mean. "totall or to-tall I *guess* could be two number which is occasionally used. but it's not super common
2019-11-15 31939, 2019

I mean, it’s a rare case where you have to specifically talk about the symbol "2", which is what that refers to.
2019-11-15 31900, 2019

Usually you talk about the value, there being two of something.
2019-11-15 31935, 2019

yea. and the idea that totall(totallig) is analoguous to "binary" is.. a streach at best
