meLon: you can also start browsing MB from within Picard. If Picard opens anything in the browser (e.g. use "lookup in browser") it ads the tport parameter
meLon: What script is it that is incompatible? I don't really see how it could interfere, all the magic tagger button does is page reloading and manipulating the tagger buttons
meLon: I fixed the magic tagger script, it was interfering with the add release page

just in case anyone is interested to vote in a change in a secondary type for a Jean-Michel Jarre release group: https://musicbrainz.org/edit/78884250

Hi there.
I am in a process of adding a new artist
I just clicked finished button
But when I wanna leave page I get a note about loosing my work
I didn't provide any note since it's a new artist there with a new album....
It's like my edit was not applied?
srxl
If you create a new artist with no relations, I think that artist will get deleted after a week if you don't add any
Once the album is added to the artist that note should go away
antlarr
frojnd: In the "My Data" menu in the top of the page, you can check in "All My Edits" if the edit was applied
frojnd
It was not and I have to enter it again... meh
Ok now that I've wrote smth inside edit I think it went through..
So now... how I can check if using whipper app or any other app that uses musicbrainz if my edits were good?
evelyn
I don't know about whipper app but if you look at the editing history, you can see if they went through?
frojnd
Now they went yes
evelyn
It looks like Whipper is a CD ripper, right/
Well, if you're ripping CDs, what you need to do is add the disc ID to the album you're trying to ripp
Have you added the album to Musicbrainz already?
frojnd
evelyn: yes
evelyn
OK, the easiest way to attach the disc ID is probably to use Picard and submit the disc ID through that. Maybe Whipper can do that too, I don't know
(Assuming that Whipper uses disc IDs etc)
frojnd
Let me first try to submit with picard
How do I dodo that
evelyn
at the top there is a button called something like 'lookup CD'

frojnd
I see
evelyn
and then it will say that the CD doesn't exist in the database, so you click 'submit disc ID' or something like that
and then it takes you to the website in your web browser, and you can add the disc ID to a given release
frojnd
Picard can't read /dev/sr0 only /dev/cdrom
Oh my
I know discID from whipper log
outsidecontext
frojnd: you are sure /dev/sr0 is the correct device in your case then? usually it is, but then /dev/cdrom is only a symlink to it. both should work the same
frojnd
Can I add directly

Ok
Whipper also added a url directly to muscbrainz with disc id
I've attached through that

What does this mean: Voting: Closes in 6 days
That in 6 days it will be accepted?
If no votes?
srxl
yep
evelyn
Certain edits require a vote, or if you checked the box 'vote on all edits' or whatever it's called
frojnd
I didn't checked
In picard I have these flac files now that I have renamed... how do I apply that to the files on the hard drive?
On my HD they are still named like 1 unknown - unknown
frojnd: basically, nowadays edits can only be rejected if you actually get No votes
(there used to be other conditions that could cause that, but they got removed)
So, unless you get any No votes, your edits will always apply, eventually :) They might apply sooner if they get approved by an editor with that privilege or get 3 Yes votes
Otherwise, they apply on the voting closing time
