don't know iuf this is the right place but i'd like to thank anyone who worked on improving the release submission process, i just found out recently that importing releases from bandcamp is smoother than ever
reosarevok
That'd mostly be whoever worked on the importer, but chances are they're also here :)

Could somebody help me understand: which is better, track-level arrangement relationships or recording-level arrangement relationships?
Subsequently, the recording by Pentangle was added to use this work
However, the Pentangle recording was much earlier, in 1974 not 1978.
So, there was another work added, just Jack Orion (the original traditional song), which I added as a work relationship ie. Fairport's version based on the traditional song
this song is itself based on an older, text-only ballad which I also set the relationship to.
So, I'm wondering if we should just remove the Fairport version's arrangement-level relationship and merge the works (Fairport's version is literally the traditional song with rock and roll beats) and then set the Fairport version's arrrangement relationship at the recording level.
(actually, the Pentangle one is even earlier still - 1970 not 1974)

as it stands we have Glasgerion (the original ballad) -> basis of -> Jack Orion -> basis of -> Jack O'Rion (which has work-level arrangement attributed to Fairport Convention)

evelyn, I’d say that whoever connected the Pentangle recording to the Fairport arrangement probably made the error. A new work should have been added (of which the Fairport work is an arrangement). But it’s hard to be careful about that, especially if there’s no disambiguation…
It’s likely that the Fairport liner notes have something like, “All arrangements by Fairport Convention,” and whoever entered that was trying to capture that relationship.
… though whether it belongs on the recording or the work is debatable.
