CallerNo6: If they are 'track artists' as opposed to essentially ARs, I would certainly be OK with it.
CallerNo6
I don't know. There are editors who put a lot of weight into the "columnar tracklist" format. I don't.

That is, how do you tell when an artist in the tracklist is a "track artist"?
sigh. I wish somebody could have told me that someday I'd need to scan my digipaks. I'd have taken better care of them.

re jimmi hendrix and CSG classical covers contemporary
that is indeed a thing we need to fix
i wouldefinitly agree that it needs to be credited to hendrix then. but i would also thin automatically "it was perfromed by him"
the problem is that we didn't have recordings from the times of beetoven, as he too of course performed all his own things.. weonly have his "covers" i nthe future you will get more and more like hendrix, eg even "classical" contemporary. see john williams where peopel covering his works

indeed. hey

musicbrainz [at musicbrainzvm]:~/musicbrainz-server$ grep REPLICATION lib/DBDefs.pm # How to connect for read-only access. See "REPLICATION_TYPE" (below) sub REPLICATION_TYPE { RT_SLAVE }
(so it is SLAVE)
I ran carton exec ./admin/InitDb.pl -- --createdb --import /volume1/dumps/mbdump*.tar.bz2 --echo --tmp-dir=/volume1/dumps/tmp
but when trying to run ./run_replication.sh it fails with relation "dbmirror_pending" does not exist
I am running it on the latest VM with the default configuration
any idea what can be wrong? thanks

hm, digging deeper into sources and it seems that the missing replication schema is caused by "Failed to import dataset."

but I don't really know what to do with that :-(
nikki
oh, someone else had problems importing the editor table the other day...
ianmcorvidae: still around? do you remember what the fix was?
saxicek
will try to import again with --ignore-errors, maybe that will help
is the table editor_satitised somehow important?
nikki
I'm not sure :/ if you're importing as slave, I think you might be able to get away with not including it, since it doesn't add foreign keys
saxicek
nikki: ok, thanks
ianmcorvidae
editor_sanitised is our sanitized version of the editor table, of course :)
I'm not sure -- this may be a new bug, since the previous one was with a broken dump and the code has changed
nikki
ah :/
ianmcorvidae
apparently it's just one date or something, but
perhaps the version of postgres is relevant? saxicek, what's your postgres version?
ianmcorvidae is grabbing an editor dump, but
also, we apparently haven't been updating that column since NGS :P
(the max one, on the live DB, is 2011-05-16 11:35:30.11759+00

ianmcorvidae
hm
shouldn't be a problem, then
which data dump?
saxicek
20130330-003306, now downloading the latest and will try it
ianmcorvidae
okay
I suspect there is unlikely to be a difference
but it's worth a shot
saxicek thinks the same
saxicek
but as the original issue is with missing replication scheme, it seem that when I first create schema using "carton exec ./admin/InitDb.pl -- --createdb --clean" and then try to import "carton exec ./admin/InitDb.pl -- --import /tmp/dumps/mbdump*.tar.bz2 --echo" should help
because then the import should not stop the rest of the schema init
ianmcorvidae
unclear, I'm not sure you can create a clean and then import on top of it
saxicek
hm :-(
ianmcorvidae
hm
saxicek
because the replication init is after the import so when import fails, I cannot run replication (well it makes sense, but..)
ianmcorvidae
it seems that for some reason it's only dumping member_since, and is missing email_confirm_date?
hah
ianmcorvidae sees the problem
missing comma >_<
saxicek doesn't understand but hopes it is on a good way
well, it means I can ensure the next dump isn't broken anyway :)
saxicek
ok :-) so which is last one non-broken? can it be downloaded?
