I'm adding a new release, have to count from 1 to 10 or A1 A2 ... B4 B5

I believe both are supported..

hihaho: if the album uses the A1, ..., B1, ... style, then you should use that on musicbrainz.

No it's just side1 1 to 5 and side 2 1 to 5

then A1…A5 and B1…B5 (is my recommendation)

I would do the former, or use "and the" as the join phrase

but 'the' didn't sound like a join phrase

or like it belonged in a join phrase

my reasoning is that either "the" is part of the artist name and should be capitalised, or isn't actually part of the artist name and should be lowercase and in the join phrase instead

function1: are you sure "Red Allen and the Kentuckians" isn't a group that happens to have the lead singer's name in its name?

i.e. you should only add The Kentuckians as a separate artist if they are a group on their own that happened to at some point in time collaborate with Red Allen as independant artists

if Red Allen was a member of the Kentuckians and they changed their name after he left, then you should have "Red Allen and the Kentuckians" as an artist credit for "The Kentuckians"

Red Allen is definitely a member/founder, there's a discogs artist 'the kentuckians', a separate MB artist 'the kentuckians' (though all the AC's happend to be Red Allen [&] The Kentuckians), also on the release i'm looking at there is an AC for Red Allen, Frank Wakefield, and The Kentuckians

i don't think that last AC would be possible without separate artists

hmm. that last one's a bit weird, because it's basically a feat artist stuck in the middle of the artist name.

wait, here's some additional context from liner notes: "In 1959, Red moved to Washington, D.C., and re-formed the Kentuckians with the important addition of mandolin innovator Frank Wakefield."

ah, so the Frank Wakefield version is just the band renamed themselves when they got a second featured artist

except with really bad battery life, it's a bunch heavier, and only has wifi

Is there a way to implement something that would reject these types of "cover art" since it's not cover art but a picture of the package?

Those annoy me *so* much when I'm looking for cover art...

Are they too lazy to take the cover art out to scan it?

kyomi: cover art comes from ASIN. You may want add correct cover art (discogs has some..) and please add catalog number and barcode to that (deluxe) release :)

Well, there's no point in wasting space with a song I don't like just to have a "complete" set :P

It's a better representation of the release than no cover at all

If someone is annoyed, that's why they can upload a better version :)

(no, I don't like it either, and if it was uploaded to the CAA I'd ask them to re-scan without the package if possible)

If what we were talking about before gets implemented, it'll solve that issue :)

One of the uses of the cover images is to help people recognise the release

and this is good enough for *that*

About allowing you to select what cover art you want, even if it doesn't match the release you have :)

Another is to give pretty images

(and for that admittedly it isn't too great)

So do I,I'm just explaining why it is better than nothing from the MB point of view :)

Mainly why I'm going through my ~100GB music collection and re-tagging and adding cover art :)

A release could have 10 tracks.. and I might only keep 2, 5, and 8.. how am I supposed to know it had 10 tracks?

It could be weeks, months or years since I tagged it or even did anything with it
