under the list of releases, the first entry says the track number on that release is "1/4"
but actually it's track "A1" on medium 2 of the release
reosarevok
it lists position, not track name
and in the specific medium, not on the full release
flamingspinach
OK, but what about the fact that it's on medium 2?
hm
... why?

Because it's easier, I guess :p

I imagine someone will have added a ticket asking for more info
But if not, feel free

is there an easy way to what artists have a sort name that starts with "the "
+see
ianmcorvidae
probably not without a database
er, hm
the browse pages might use the sort name
MissDee_
ok
ianmcorvidae
so maybe if you go to "the" in the browse page
oh, feh, browse is down right now because of the DB load, that's right:/
MissDee_
just making my naming use the first letter of the non "the" name
djpretzel joined the channel
reosarevok
Which is probably still down
yeah
MissDee_
tempted to use the sort name rather than the replace method, but wondering if it'll confuse me
ianmcorvidae
in general, "the" *should* be at the end, but it's not always done right
sort names are a strange corner of MB
MissDee_
not sure what to do with "various artists" albums yet

It would be very easy if our silly search didn't always strip punctuation :(
MissDee_
I just went for first letter of the artist sort name, or the album name for various artists
is it normal for a recordings acoustid to change?
Ben\Sput
MissDee_: depends what you mean by "change"? :)
if the audio is the same, then it'll always produce the same fingerprint/acoustid
ianmcorvidae
the recording <-> acoustid mapping can change, the file <-> acoustid mapping shouldn't

actually both can…
the audio will always produce the same *fingerprint*
but the fingerprint/acoustID mapping can change.
Also a looked-up acoustID can be different than the one that you get after you submit a new recording.

yeah, I had 3 MP3s, 2 had one acoustid, 1 had another, rescanned all 3, and one changed to the other acoustid
the tracks were identical bar about a second of silence on the end
I'll also probably send it (without the silly form in front of it) to mb-style at some point, but :)
hawke_1
Wow, that’s a pain in the ass.
ianmcorvidae
I got a paper copy this morning, but I'll send out the document once I get it

"Narm is a moment that is supposed to be serious, but due to either over-sappiness, poor execution, excessive Melodrama, or the sheer absurdity of the situation, the drama is lost to the point of surpassing "cheesy" and becoming unintentionally funny" says TV Tropes
Indeed!
ianmcorvidae
lol
oh, hey, the actual pdf is just publicly available
