jesus2099: I think it is silly for jasrac to assign three seperate work codes for this, but it seems useful for MB to have entities which map directly to those jasrac works.
CatQuest
warp why do you turn from kuno to warp and from warp to kuno so much now?
jesus2099
kuno: it’s easier for them to directly know who to send money to when one of the tunes is performed — not completely silly.
well…
kuno
CatQuest: I'm at work. people at work know me as kuno. work has an irc channel on freenode.
CatQuest
huh
ok
jesus2099
ah !
CatQuest
you were wondering this too?
thank you reo :)
jesus2099
i was wondering too :)
kuno: or else we let only one work with 3 compo credits and we stick the three JASRAC work codes on it… it’s better ? like CyberSkull wanted
kuno there is another edits that add Chrono Trigger DS edition works to this OST cluster… i felt they shouldn’t be there and voted no atm…
what do you think ?
kuno
what is different about the DS soundtrack that they need to be seperate works?
jesus2099
maybe with my new sub-clusters we can call them ORIGINAL works by MITSUDA, ORIGINAL works by UEMATSU and ORIGINAL works by MATSUEDA and then create that new new DS EDITION works… or somehting if we let it all under the same cluster as it’s still the "same" game
Hmm, seems borderline to me. Isn’t every track on an album typically available for purchase separately? (e.g. Amazon, iTunes both let you buy most tracks separately from the album) Does that qualify as a digital single? Or is this more of a release than that?
yindesu
no
Show me examples where "every track on an album" is typically available for purchase *before the album is released*?
hawke_1
…OK, then why is it being added as a release?
yindesu
it's a digital single
the album hasn't been released yet
for what it's worth, the album art is also not the album art of the not-yet-released album.
hawke_1
Sounds good to me, then.
Voted yes.
JonnyJD_
I don't even understand what qbly is saying. A pre-single, a single advertising an upcoming album is standard practice.
yindesu
it's probably because Japan is not used to digital singles.
hawke_1
I think he’s saying “they’re just selling a track off the album in advance” which is potentially reasonable
reosarevok
I mean, the linked URL is fairly clear in showing it is a digital single though :)
CallerNo6
But more and more, digital "releases" are coming out in stages.
If http://recochoku.jp/album/30286441/ was called LEVEL3 and had only one track, I could see it as "album page with a preview track" in some way, but it's not, it seems a clear single to me :)
yindesu
I do wish there was a way to "hide" digital singles from the Singles release groups.
most artists' official discographies don't include them.
(speaking about Japan, where CD singles are the only thing that matter.)
hawke_1
reosarevok: I wouldn’t think that — compare to how amazon has separate pages for each track vs. the album.
