too bad adding an ISRC is an autoedit, i don't think i could ever write a script for this that i could trust 100%
      • is there any way to force an add ISRC edit to a vote?
      • reosarevok
        nope
      • ianweller
        darn :(
      • ianweller will just tell the script to set its expectations for similar data to be high
      • reosarevok
ianweller: while that restricts it much more, you could tell it to check it against one of the ISRC databases

does scpp have anything from outside FR?
      • reosarevok
        Yeah
      • More than you'd expect
      • (but not soooo much to be a really great source)

        buh
      • python-musicbrainz-ngs's submit_isrcs function doesn't return anything worthwhile, like an edit number, and i can't add an edit note with that functino either
      • oh well!
      • Mineo
well, the webservice doesn't support that
      • nikki
        annoyingly :(
      • nikki has given up on entering edit notes for isrc edits
      • I was going back and doing them all manually, but that's way too much work

CatCat, reosarevok: i really do not like it to have many links to a closed site like spotify/facenook. it really sounds useless on MB for me :/ http://musicbrainz.org/edit/17435011
      • reosarevok
        Ignore them?
      • That's what I do with all the stuff I can't open (+ myspace, which I just *won't* open if I can help it)
      • jesus2099
ignore them ok but should not we just unallow closed links? what's the point with closed links? myspace are open links
      • reosarevok
It's not closed if you can just register and access them
      • (admittedly, Spotify is on the fence since there's a limit for free listening IIRC - but that's still useful for people who use it and doesn't hurt those who don't)
      • jesus2099
it is closed to non facebook users
      • ianmcorvidae
I think our main guiding principle is utility, and unfortunately lots of people still use facebook
      • jesus2099
i call it close when you cannot access without creating accounts
      • nikki
and most official youtube channels are closed to germany, let's remove all of those :P
      • ianmcorvidae
in general I agree that we shouldn't be supporting terrible walled-garden bullshit, but I do think we should link things that are useful
      • reosarevok
Accounts are free - it's not like you need to give them any real info or anything
      • nikki
oh, and let's not link to any shops that require credit cards, those are closed to everyone without one :P

dang, my script made it through 248 releases (and added about 20 releases worth of ISRCs) before it crashed on something stupid
      • reosarevok
You say it as if it was bad
      • 20 releases is pretty OK :p
      • That's probably what we get in one day from all other sources or something
      • ianweller
        nah, it's good
      • i just wonder how it made it through that many things before crashing because a release didn't have timestamps in musicbrainz
