if two bootleg compilations contain exactly the same tracks (or rather, recordings), should they be in one RG?
or maybe just link them with "is a later release" AR?
KRSCuan
If they contain the same recordings, I'd put them into one release group and link them as well.
The only real exceptions for bootlegs are live bootlegs – apparently because they'd likely contain different recordings of the same performance, but I didn't follow the discussion concerning them.
v6lur
should the combined RG then be titled like "Title of Bootleg 1 / Title of 2"?
hm. thanks. I'll see if the person who asked replies to clarify.

What release/track artist should I use for a cd which says "Cab Calloway" on the spine, "Cab Calloway and Orchestra" on the front cover and on the disc, and "Cab Calloway with the Cabbaliers" on the back cover with the track listing?

Is there a rule about obvious typos? I couldn't find it mentioned in the style guides. If the track listing on the cd says "Whats New" should I insering an apostrophe when adding the cd?
fupp
I dunno, could be that they meant to name the track "Whats New" and not "What's New"
and the "correct" title should prob be "What's New?" with a question mark as well.

obvious typoes that misstaken (crappy wallmart releases etc) are fixed, a good indicator is if various sites have it with/without fixed
if you consequently find it only with the "broken" spelling thoguh, it might ne intentional
jazz standards are fixed to the jazz standar's "proper" use
'Take the "A" Train' for example

OK, thanks. In this case it's not a rerelease of a recording that has been released with the "proper" title earlier though, but something recorded in 2003.

What's the maximum track length supported by the server?
I tried to enter a 525948766 minutes long track, but it was set to -1 ms.
Muz
In the database the column is an INTEGER.
iirc, times are stored in ms. In seconds alone that is 31556925960, so 31556925960000. Which is clearly BUFFEROVERRUN time.
2147483647 is the apparent limit for INTEGERS in PostGres.
considering they're both unofficial bootlegs... i don't know

v6lur: so long as the release exists, to my mind, it doesn't matter if it were legal or bootleg; what matters is the title that appeared on the thing, not the legality of the thing. :)
Do we need a whole page defining those rare artists? (Esp given the text that was on Supporting Musician Relationship Type, which suggested inventing such artists rather than using that AR)

anyone able to explain how public key authentication works? I figure it's a challenge-response type thing, but I don't get how the challenge is decided
Clint
aCiD2: the client could say "hi, i've got this key", and then the server can decide to validate it if it's heard of that key
aCiD2
I guess the client should encrypt that key with the servers public key too
Clint
yes, typically there is a session key negotiated first
aCiD2
ok, that makes sense
srotta
Of course the actual key isn't trnasferred at any point, but something that's encrypted with that key.
brianfreud: the language is supposed to be urdu and is available in previous releases but I cannot select it
I will add the sources for the rest
brianfreud
hit "show full lists" to get Urdu
As for the script, all the text on your IRC screen, and in those releases - that's Latin :)

brianfreud: added sources for those that were missing some are pronunciation fixes and sometimes the original website gets is wrong and wikipedia gets it right. It is really hard to get a 100% correct source since you are trying to pronounce one language in another
brianfreud
I have to admit, I don't agree with a lot of the reasoning in these later notes
Artist's website always wins against Wikipedia or 'general pronounciation', imho
and the RE edits are giving YYYY-MM-DD and a country; Wikipedia only has YYYY.
