and apparently there are 27575 puids assigned to tracks by different artists
Kerensky97
"The Lion Sleeps Tonight" I can see that being a highly downloaded song too... back in 2000 I downloaded it too (I have a legal copy now). I think it was titled "A whim away" when I first got it, which is criminally wrong.
nikki
my music tastes changed so much since the napster days...
Kerensky97
Mine too.
petros
Me too, from mp3 to aac mostly ;)
nikki
so I don't have much left 'cause I realised I hated it and deleted it, or ended up buying it
petros
We can propably all agree that we've been exposed to more new music since the 'tubes
Kerensky97
I lost most of mine, then re-aquired alot through purchasing.
nikki
yeah, I wouldn't have found jpop otherwise :P
Kerensky97
petros: Fo-Sho!
nikki
I remember my reaction the first time someone made me listen to jpop
petros
And we buy most odf the stuff in the end. I know I do.
Kerensky97
Well, we need to get the Disc ID for Musicbrainz now...
nikki
it was... aitsu by dicot and I was like D: D: D: D: wtf
plus when we buy it, we can check the cover for any mistakes or uncredited stuff :P
petros
OTOH I've also been exposed to goat.sx and tubgirl since the 'tubes, so I'm still not sure whether they are a good invention
Kerensky97
I realized I had a problem when I bought a CD so I could settle a debate on a new CD addition at musicbrainz.
nikki
like "omg omg omg this guy hoovered the floor in the room used to write two lines of lyrics, we need another relationship!!"
CatCat
lol nikki, that was my reaction when i heard jpop first too
and it was YOU
nikki
it's an acquired taste, obviously
haha, which song?
CatCat
and it was ai ai ai minihamasu by minimoni
Kerensky97
:)
nikki

CatCat

Kerensky97
Mine was the music video for "Joshi Kashimashi Monogatari" by Morning Musume on Mognet.com
nikki
the first songs I heard which I liked were buzzstyle by yaida hitomi and kimi no hitomi ni koi shiteru by fukada kyoko
slaad joined the channel
I can't remember when I was first introduced to morning musume...
Kerensky97
"buzzstyle by yaida hitomi" I like that one too.
nikki
I remember the release of the manpower!!! (and I didn't like that song at the time), so it must have been before then
I have a suspicion it was ai araba it's all right that was the first song by them I heard

the dates in the file are 2003... and I still used romaji then
Tengo joined the channel
and it seems that I was quite keen on anime opening songs
and most of it got filed under the anime name
CatCat
loiloiloi same as me
nikki
except the ones where I did put the artist in, but then the album was the anime
CatCat
yes!
album was the anime
i rtied to find the artist
oh i remember i did googl.. er hyahoo! for the album names of the songs i had back then. i hated how wmp had gaps :>
Mirrakor joined the channel
then i used this thing galled listen-to, which linkedto mb
so i when there and tagged my files
loi this was back whit classic tagger
it wasnt the msot recent either, i remember it updating
once
and then i dunno... i forgot abotu it for maybe a week or 3
nikki
I found last.fm through a forum, then last.fm wasn't working and the error message said to go tag files at mb, I wasn't using windows but I found the misencoded tracks report and I was like "bwahahahaha!"
CatCat
then for soem explicitly weird reason (i love to categorise)... i came back
and here we are :]
nikki
although mb seemed familiar, I think I must have found it before somehow
CatCat
yea. i remember i wouldnt use last.fm (then audioscrobbler) for the longest tiem because i wanted listen-to to come back
nikki
I liked the audioscrobbler design
it was so simple and tidy
CatCat
listen-to was the same idea. you scrobble stuff
nikki
now it's all omgomg with loads of javascript >_<
CatCat
i liek it, but thewre IS way to much javasxript now
nikki
I don't use it much now simply 'cause it's too slow
and my first response is to turn js off, which then breaks the entire thing
