Perhaps I'm stubborn and too used to SVN these days, but my reaction to sitting and reading through git docs, is "meh"

Lots of the flashy merging bullshit stuff everyone is creaming themselves over, I'd hardly ever use

And I honestly don't mind SVN merging, then again, I hardly do anything that merge heavy, so it doesn't bother me

for me the penny just dropped once, and now I branch a lot, and stay a lot more focused

my argument is everything you can do in SVN, you can do in <insert other vcs here>, <other vcs here> however gives other developers other ways of thinking

if you dont like SVN, configure your pet VCS as the front end and shut up.

SVN is commong across other projects and is well established, if you want to use something else, you can configure your git-svn front or whatever

i dunno, just seems tricky cause then we end up with the possibility that there are 2-3 mirror repos

but if I ditched the github repo, and just used git locally, that's not an issue
