I can't wait for the collections feature to be put on the main site...
aCiD2 has like, so totally, just blogged
FauxFaux

All over your face
Muzzz
HOT
Freso
Blog it like it's hot.
Also:
Freso goes to read the blogging in question
:p
Muzzz
Perhaps I'm stubborn and too used to SVN these days, but my reaction to sitting and reading through git docs, is "meh"
Lots of the flashy merging bullshit stuff everyone is creaming themselves over, I'd hardly ever use
And I honestly don't mind SVN merging, then again, I hardly do anything that merge heavy, so it doesn't bother me
ruaok is happy to see aCiD2 so peppy
aCiD2
:)

Muzzz: you wouldn't use it if you didn't branch, yes. but when you understand how useful branching locally can be then...
for me the penny just dropped once, and now I branch a lot, and stay a lot more focused
Muzzz
Just must be the way I work and my habits
aCiD2
Maybe if you're being stubborn to change them :)
Muzzz
I know how to, and have done branching in SVN before
I dunno, each to their own, you have Macfags that stand by their guns so I guess this is the same
aCiD2
my argument is everything you can do in SVN, you can do in <insert other vcs here>, <other vcs here> however gives other developers other ways of thinking
maybe
Muzzz
Everything you can do in git, you can do in SVN, SVN just gives you a different workflow to achieving that ;)
aCiD2
no, not everything
not close :P
ruaok
I'm leaning to not doing anything other than to push for the 1.5 svn upgrade.
it seems that ever pet-vcs can interface with SVN.
aCiD2
yup, sounding like one of the main options
ruaok
so why change anything.
Muzzz agrees with ruaok
aCiD2
it does spread developers out a little
ruaok
if you dont like SVN, configure your pet VCS as the front end and shut up.
aCiD2: how so?
Muzzz
SVN is commong across other projects and is well established, if you want to use something else, you can configure your git-svn front or whatever
aCiD2
i dunno, just seems tricky cause then we end up with the possibility that there are 2-3 mirror repos
but if I ditched the github repo, and just used git locally, that's not an issue
ruaok
is that a problem?
it doesn't "count" until your code hits the SVN repo.
Muzzz
But those mirror repos should push their updates tot he SVN repo ultimately?
ruaok nods at Muzzz
Muzzz nods bacj
aCiD2
Muzzz, should, but it's one more thing for me to forget ;) But that's not a valid argument, understandably
steady on now you two
:P
Muzzz
aCiD2: that is kind of your own fault for being all rebellious :P
aCiD2

so I have a question now, just because I'm curious
Can I 'turn off' the ability to AutoMod for a period of time?
if I want to enter an edit that would otherwise be immediate applied, for discussion's sake or what have you
ah, there's a checkbox
I figured it was something as simple. That's good.
FauxFaux knew it was simple, but not where the box was. ¬_¬
it's on edit pages.
I'm assuming votes behave as normal, and this magical "Approve" link I now see will close the edit immediately with a positive result.
hmmm. it's in two different places though
