the first cd is called memorias atras, and the second is called "the day the warld stopped" should it be added as two different releases or something like Memorias Atras (disc 1) and Memorias Atras (disc 2: the day the world stopped)
MClemo
ah, ok. Has it one major release name on the front cover? Then use "Major Release Title (disc 2: The Day the World Stopped)"
Memorias Atras is that name, I guess
tru
yeah, that's right.
MClemo
probably "Memorias Atras" (with the right accent) and "Memorias Atras (bonus disc: The Day the World Stopped)" then
tru
what should the attribute release be set to on the second disc? remix or album?
I think "bonus disc" would have been better for the second disc
as you didn't use "disc 1" on the first either
my comment before might have been confusing
tru
mhm. please put it as a comment to the note. so that I can learn :)
MClemo
will do
but you got a cd drive in your computer and use picard, right?
then attaching the disc id is easy :)
tru
nah, I have a macbook air without CD drive :)

Hmm. It always makes me wonder a bit when a single PUID has suddenly been added to multiple tracks in the database.
Do people really add them in bursts, or is someone adding the same track into multiple releases. Or is it just some random fan who has discovered MusicBrainz and tags his whole Oasis collection, including several various artists compilations.
I often add PUIDs to a whole bunch of releases in a row
srotta
So do I, but do all of them have the same track, that produces the same PUID?
It's possible, of course, no doubt about that, but there have been several of those lately, and it makes me think someone's adding PUIDs to all tracks in the database.
MClemo
that's a bit suspicious, true
srotta
And it's still damn hard to find the guy who's doing the submitting.
MClemo
yeah, no edit history for PUIDs
srotta
Well, I've got nothing but time, so I'll go and search that PUID.
:P
MClemo
good luck ;)
Tykling
is the website slow today ?
getting annoyed here
:>
Muzzz
Pretty speedy for me here
Tykling
ok
srotta
I thought Firefox was to blame for the slowness of my machine, since it hogs so much memory.

question, I added this VA release with "various artists" as the album artist, found out it shouldv'e been "organiseret riminalitet" as albumartist, cancelled the edits but the release still remains on MB, when will it dissappear so I can add it properly ? http://musicbrainz.org/release/ec561675-d45c-4a...
srotta
But now I see it's just me - I moved to Opera, and now it takes around 350MB of memory.
Tykling: Edits get cancelled every hour or so, I think.
Tykling
ok thank you, I'll just add something else meanwhile then :)

I want to add a new release and I'm not sure how to handle the title... Main title is "Down the Road...!" and subtitle is "Live at the Ahoy Rotterdam 8.3.'93" - how should it be added? subtitle in brackets maybe?
(Note difference between Amazon title and that on the cover art).
I *think* this is the same release as http://musicbrainz.org/release/7692f35f-04b7-49... but I'm not sure. The disc ID differs, and the track times on the MB page are quite adrift from those given in the liner notes.
Plus that MB release is not in line with the CSG. Should I attempt to fix up the existing release or create a new one?
MClemo
creature: if the track times don't match, rather add a new one
creature
MClemo: Even though it's the same piece and same performer?
MClemo
you'd have to do some 30 edits to make it right anyway
how much do the track times differ?
creature
Take track 24: the booklet lists it as 5.26, and the MP3 is 5.25. But that disc is listed as 1.54.
MClemo
that's not the same release/disc then
it's in such a poor shape anyway that it's probably a candidate for removal
creature
I think that release is broken. I have no idea how you could get a 5 and a half minute fugue into 2 minutes.
So how do albums get flagged as candidates for removal?
chefkoch joined the channel
OK, the other 3 discs for this aren't in MB at all.

MClemo
creature: err, you just make an edit to remove it. But it has a disc id and performer info so I'm not a hundred percent sure about removing it
often discs are released in some box and as a single release, that doesn't say much
creature
OK, well, I guess I'll add mine separately, and then you more experienced MB people can jibble them together as best suits.
