i won't get them in time for fishbone tonight, so i'll use the Hearos "Rock 'n Roll"
etymotic now has them sized for smaller ear canals, which is great for me :)
\
any kind of highly-amplified music is just getting painful for me
brick_ijigg
my etymotics have an intermittent connection on one side again :(
phones, not plugs, of course
BrianG
did you order the small "babyblues" yllona?
yllona
i'm thinking it's time for a custom fitted pair of ear-plugs
BrianG
i don't think customs are worth it personally
yllona
BrianG: yes, i ordered the baby-blues :)
BrianG
easy to lose, hard to put in
aCiD2
ruaok: why do you ask?
yllona
BrianG: ah. nice tip
ruaok
I'm trying to stay up on my brit slang.
aCiD2
And I don't think I'm familiar with the term, but think I get what you mean
oh lol
ruaok
and befuddle my cali friends.
aCiD2
never said that :P
ruaok
is it a drug dealer who sells hard drugs?
that's my guess
aCiD2
I thought it was just someone who constantly gave out bad news xD
nikki has never heard it either
brick_ijigg
ruaok, is there more context in the lyric?
ruaok
well, dealer in in scroobius pip and the streets terms is always a drug dealer.
one sec.
aCiD2
I know that meaning of dealer, of course
ruaok relistens to Muses by Scoobious Pip
any other Tosca fans here?
aCiD2 grooves to Delhi9
ruaok raises his hands
good man, thought you would be :)
yllona
aCiD2: Tosca the opera :P
aCiD2
hum?
ruaok
"have you been there before? cause I swear you look familiar, I stand there scratching my head to make my thoughts clearer, and you look at me... like I'm a bad news dealer."
yllona
aCiD2: Tosca is one of the most famous operas ever written
aCiD2
Ah, maybe that explains why their other album is called "Opera"
ojnkpjg: thanks for pointing out the collision-prone freedb id issue. That must be why I'm getting multiple matches. I think I may be getting MB data (not freedb data) after all, but more than one MB release.

ruaok wonders if any local banks would let him keep an account in euros
ruaok
eurwhat?
brick_ijigg
well, paypal might :)
ruaok
shoot me NOW!
I would *love* to convert Metabrainz to euros. :)
we get paid in euros and pounds.
brick_ijigg
ruaok, i'll be watching as you will :)
ruaok
yep.
yllona
HSBC isn't FDIC insured that i can see
chefkoch has quit
brick_ijigg
i believe that any bank taking deposits from the public in the US is FDIC insured by necessity
i.e. that's the reward for qualifying under the federal regulations of what makes a bank
ruaok
brick_ijigg: that was my thought too
brick_ijigg
i'm not sure if HSBC is in the business in this country though!
FDIC provides insurance on your savings, thus it *is* about the little guy.
ruaok
and I don't think that I would ever benefit from that.
yllona
that was the point of the S & L crisis in the late 80s. people put money in non-insured banks
ruaok
I know, what its supposed to do.

I'm not a wealthy republican.
BrianFreud
yllona: HSBC is quite full service in the US - Buffalo is very much an HSBC city
ruaok
thus I would never get help from the gubmint
yllona
ruaok: if you place money in an FDIC insured banks, and that bank fails the FDIC guarantees your savings. end of story. that's the primary purpose of the FDIC
ruaok
BrianFreud: they seem to be headquartered there (for the us)
BrianFreud
I think you're right
ruaok
that presumes you trust the US gubmint to do its job.
which it clearly is NOT doing.
BrianFreud
but though I never saw them in San Fran or DC, there's 5 within a mile of me up here
yllona
ruaok: whatevs, yo could also store the money in your mattress. that's an excellent failsafe :P
ruaok
EUR under my mattress is WAAAY smarter than USD in the bank.
yllona
hey go for it.
they'll be a run on the euro as well, so i'd also bury some in the backyard
anyone who didn't see this comin is just stupid. in the US and abroad
ruaok
count about 90% of the population into that figure
