lol :p
• nikkeee
haha
• navap
I'm just concerned that someone is going to come back not liking the edit..dunno how well pointing to that wiki will go over :p
• The Common_sense one
• lol they were both wiki links
• nikkeee
it
• navap
It's pretty obvious, IMO, when you look at the release. The title of the first track should be changed. http://musicbrainz.org/release/15436f95-6df1-47...
• nikkeee
it's the accepted way to enter stuff as far as I know... it makes the most sense to me
• navap
For "(vocal version feat. Ane Trolle)", the track version should be split from the feat right?
• mikemorr
It's the radio edit of the Trentemøller remix. There's no such thing as "Trentemøller remix radio".
• (I think)
• navap
hm? It never was "Trentemøller remix radio", it had the "edit" at the end to start with.
• mikemorr
Right, that's what I mean :) It's not an "edit" of "Trentemøller remix radio". :P
• I was deliberately misparsing it. I agree with luks and nikkeee.
• :)
• navap
Oh you mean, if it was just (edit) at the end, yes then it would make even less sense than it did to begin with :p
• mikemorr
The vocal version one I'm not as sure about, though. If there is no vocal version unless Ane Trolle is there, I might leave it as is.
• Which I would guess is probably the case.
• navap
Well thats when the order of the info comes in. If the original track has her, then the feat would go before the remix info. If she is there just because of the feat, she would go after the remix.
• mikemorr
OK, right, as long as the order is correct, I guess it doesn't matter very much whether they are in one set of parens or two separate ones.
• http://musicbrainz.org/doc/TrackTitle gives the example "Take Me to Heaven (Hell remix) (feat. Linda B.)"
• All the examples there are separated, so I guess it's more clear-cut than I thought: Separate the feat. :)
• Muz
FauxFaux--.
• I now have FLACs and OGGs and should update my CLI scripts. :(
• Transcoding == effort.
• Sargun has quit
• navap
Bram van Kampen performs as Bram VanK, does that count as a ficticious name?
• mikemorr
For sortname purposes, I'd say yes. I'd sort "Bram VanK" under "B". (Not "VanK, Bram".)
• navap
But you would mark the artist as a Person though correct?
• The performance name
• mikemorr
I've been meaning to ask the list about that, actually. There was talk about creating a third category "Project" for artists who are neither a person nor a group. This one definitely looks like a person to me.
• I say, if it's one person, it's a person :)
• navap
Well, ya, in this case he refers to himself by that name on his bio http://www.bramvank.com/biography.html
• mikemorr
I mark all those DJ names as Persons, if they are a performance name for only one person.
• czaanja has quit
• What I want to know, though, is: are these Persons: Eric Cartman? Kermit the Frog? Budgie and Basil of Caninus?
• navap
Kermit the Frog haha
• RifRaf
kermit is obviously a frog
• navap
I dunno, you could argue that it's a person ;)
• Born: 1955-05-09, Type: Person haha there you go
• mikemorr
I'd say, keep it simple and mark all the ones I listed as Persons, rather than creating more categories. If it's one inseparable identity, call it a Person, regardless of whether it's a human or not. Anything else is a Group.
• ruaok joined the channel
• navap
I agree, maybe "Person" should be called "Individual" instead?
• mikemorr
That would work for me.
• navap
Give it a slightly less humanoid definition.
• brianfreud
hmm, ok, seems Deseret casing is still broken in javascript itself, no matter what you do :P
• navap
What might "(Client)" in an artist comment refer to?
• ollie
mornin ruaok !
• brianfreud
mikemorr: I've always thought we should split "Group" into "Group" and "Collaboration" - the latter being our workaround artists
• navap
drsaunde: "UK artist Kate Holmes (Client)" ring a bell?

navap: There's a band called 'Client'.
• ollie
ollie is now known as aCiD2
• creature
She's Client A.
• aCiD2 slaps irssi
• navap
Ah, so she is
• brianfreud
hey voiceinsideyou and nikki (and whoever else is interested), we finally figured out in ##javascript how to address a range of unicode plane 1-16 chars - 𐐀-\uDC4F
• instead of 𐐀-𐑏 ... seems obvious once we figured it out :P
• RifRaf
luks are you still about?
• Munger
navap, ping
• navap
pong
• Munger
• navap
What about it?
• That was the edit from last night, the one where you said we had to trust you. So I added a note with "proof".
• Munger
Do you have a link that lists Frank Frost with the BLU GNC 052 number? I just added BLU NC 052
• OIC
• I just got the email
• navap
You should have got it about 28 hours back..
• Unless you mean you're going through them now.
• Munger
About 16 emails suddenly arrived a couple of hours ago. Just got home now though
• navap
A lot of thore are probably mine, sorry :p
• I went through a lot of the add release edits of yours a couple of hours ago.
• RifRaf
yay i just verified my membership
• navap
lol with mb?
• RifRaf
member since 2004-06-18
• yep
• navap
Is this a second verification? Or your first?
• RifRaf
first
• navap wonders what the point of "verification" is then :p
• i just tried what would have been first username and it told me to verify
• in mb classic it just asked for a name and stuff
• Munger
navap. Alexis Korner, Live in Paris was first released in 1980. I just never realised it was a dupe. I'll cancel the edit
• navap
Are you sure it was released in 1980? The info I got said it was recorded in 1980, but released in 1988
• RifRaf
guess i should do some editing at some point, just been lost in this stupid plugin since i came back
• Munger
I bought it before he died.
• navap
I see, well I'll add it to the existing release then.
• Munger
I have jotted down a not to dig out the CD and get the info off the cover
• navap
So the 1980 was a CD release
• ?
• Munger
...unless I can find the artwork here
• Vinyl
• Did I have it as CD?
• navap
No, you hadn't specified.
• Munger
I keep typing CD. I'm in that frame of mind :-)
• navap
btw, you don't need to leave a note when cancelling if its obvious why you cancelled it.
• Munger
I think there was also a CD release shortly after his death in 1984. I have no info on that though, but ISTR remember a friend showing it off to me
• aCiD2 has quit
• Alexis Korner was one of my musical heroes
• navap
For example I stated it was a duplicate already, so you don't need to re state it. http://musicbrainz.org/show/edit/?editid=10161162 (Less email for the other people involved :p)
• Munger
OK. I like to spread the love ;-)
• http://musicbrainz.org/show/edit/?editid=10163364 Again, I missed the duplicate (I am getting better and finding them), but this has always been the 'Blues Unlimited' album
• 'The Best of Alexis Korner and Friends' is really a subtitle
• nikkeee
brianfreud: javascript doesn't support the real unicode codepoints beyond the bmp?
• CatCat
whenever is ee "bmp" i think "bitemsrk file"
• like for paint
• nikkeee
bitmap
• brianfreud
nikki: not using standard \uXXXX notation - you have to use the surrogate codepoints
• CatCat
uh
• nikkeee
yucky
• brianfreud
but noone had a clue how to do ranges using them, took us a while to figure out
• navap
If you don't search for the release name manually but browse the artists page, watch out, you will only see anything marked as an Album, Single, EP, or Compiation.
• CatCat
natta!!
• brianfreud
nattamo
• nikkeee
I don't see what was so hard about it, it's obvious two bytes...
• and ranges work on the last one
• navap
Munger: Check out http://musicbrainz.org/artist/d6a56832-d11a-4fe... and click "all releases".
• brianfreud
yes, as I say, it's obvious... once you've seen how to do it right :P
• Munger
That's a bogus artist. No such band
• nikkeee
if you'd asked me I could have told you :P
• brianfreud
𐐀-𐑏 just seems like it *should* be right, not 𐐀-\uDC4F
• nikkeee
maybe to you :P
• to me it reads as the codepoints d801, dc4f and the impossible range dc00 to d801
• navap
Ya...I was goint to say \uDC00-\uD801 doesn't make sense to me
• But I didn't want to say anything incase I was stuipidly wrong :p
• See..like that stupidly*
• Munger
navap, As far as I know, there were only two albums with 'Alexis Korner and Friends' on the cover. It was because the albums were assembled from various performances and studio sessions with different bands
• navap
Would those two happen to be "The Party Album" and the "Blues Unlimited" one?
• Munger
Yes. They should be filed under 'Alexis Korner' with ARs listing the performers on each track
• Check out the track listings here ---- http://alexis-korner.net/party.html
• Well, the credits below the listing
• That was just a gig with various guest performers
• navap
Well, I would get someone else's opinion before moving those albums over to Alexis Korner.
• Munger
I see what you mean, but all I am saying is that was no such band under that name. If you check out the perfomers on The Party Album, you will see a bunch of different names
• err... I mean the Blues Unlimited album
• Can't remeber them all, but I know that Robert Plant & Sonny Boy Williamson did a song on there
• navap
The album pretty clearly states the artist as "Alexis Komer and Friends".
• Munger
That's the subtitle. For most of the tracks the band was 'Blues Incorporated'
• navap
• warp
Munger: if the cover and spine have 'Alexis Korner and Friends', that what it is credited to. I would prefer it if it stays there.
• navap
For the Blues Unlimeted one, there are lots of ways the album name could be written.
• Munger
As far as I have always known, it was 'Blues Unlimited : The Best of Alexis Korner and Friends'
• navap
That seems backwards from the order they are printed on the cover.
• Munger
No it isn't. REad it again
• warp
Munger: ok :)
