Well.. I have a box sets that have titled "box set title" - "artist name" and "box set title" - "artist name 2" should I move that 2 to box set title when adding release?
      • Wizzcat
if I understand you correctly the different discs have different artist subtitles?
      • kampsun
I wouldn't say subtitle, there's litterally number 2 added to artist name on other set, like indicated that this is second compilation for this artist.
      • Wizzcat
kampsun: I'm not sure it's worth bothering including
      • unless they're two people with the same name, the images certainly could fool me :p
      • or wait, sorry I misunderstood, this is two different boxsets yes?
      • kampsun
        Yep.
      • Two differnet box sets from same person.
      • Wizzcat
in that case you should probably include it as a boxset subtitle, "Boxset name: Toomas Anni 2"
      • kampsun
Seems fine yeah. Especially because there are other box sets with same name, but different artists. Thanks. :)
      • Wizzcat
        np

What to do in case brought up in Release_Arist_Style point 1.4.2
      • Create it as various artists?
      • Wizzcat
kampsun: aren't all the tracks on the album by toomas anni?
      • kampsun
That question was about another release. :)
      • Wizzcat
oh sorry, didn't read your q properly
      • that would be various artists yes
      • yuanyelele
How to add recording information like mono/stero ADD/DDD?
      • alastairp
I don't think there's a place for it yet. you could add it as an annotation
      • NXISGOD
      • For anyone using a Mac.
      • warp
phew.. almost 2 hours to enter a release.

      • Wizzcat
        what are the chances!
      • brianfreud_
I wish there was a way to find the edit that removed a release; release 6de5543b-445c-4bcd-bf60-888b5c7b86e3 took forever to enter, simply because of the huge length of the titles, and the large number of tracks. Yet though it had plenty to document it's existence in the add edit ( http://musicbrainz.org/show/edit/?editid=10793717 and related), it's simply gone now that I tried to re-tag against it. :(
      • Wizzcat
wouldn't you be able to hack up a query if you have db access?
      • brianfreud_
possibly, though my dump is prob too old to contain it.
      • It'd be nice, though, if the "This release has been removed" and "This release group has been removed" texts also contained a link to the removing edit.
      • Wizzcat
        true
      • not to mention if you were able to subscribe to v/a releases so we could avoid this in the first place :p
      • brianfreud_ hopes his dump is old enough to still contain the release, to re-copy it in from...
      • brianfreud_ found the remove edit... Why am I not surprised to see it passed on a 0:0 expiration?
      • brianfreud_
just my opinion, but I think 0:0 destructive edits of any type should fail, not pass.
      • Wizzcat
brianfreud_: indeed, you should bring it up on mb-style
      • aCiD2
        I agree
      • Wizzcat
the amount of destructive edits is low enough to warrant it
      • brianfreud_
Even were the # higher (or maybe esp if it were higher?), I think it'd be a smart change.
      • aCiD2
It doesn't make sense to allow anyone to (potentially) remove anything
      • GiovanniMerolla
        sorry
      • musicbrainz picard is used only with musicbrainz.org server?
      • is used = work
      • sorry bad english
      • MClemo
I think you can set it to use some other musicbrainz server
      • Wizzcat
        MClemo: if you're a masochist ;)
      • GiovanniMerolla
        lol
      • Muz
        Or a developer.
      • GiovanniMerolla
but freedb is moshist just? :D
      • *is a masochist
      • Muz
Well, same thing given it's Python and the current site code. (BRing on the TemplateToolkit relase!!"121131)
      • Wizzcat
        freedb is just bad
      • GiovanniMerolla
i know but i want just to try some tracks i don't found on musicbrainz server
      • i want know if i can use those server ...
      • just ...
      • i love musicbrainz server
      • Wizzcat
you can't use anything other than musicbrainz
      • but if there's something you can't find you can always add the release yourself
      • GiovanniMerolla
        ok
      • outsidecontext
GiovanniMerolla: on musicbrainz when you add a release you can import it from freedb
      • GiovanniMerolla
        ok
      • i don't knwo
      • i have a lot techno music not recognised ^_^
      • Wizzcat
GiovanniMerolla: all the more reason to add it so others can tag it :)
      • be careful with importing from freedb though, their data is notoriously bad
      • GiovanniMerolla
yes ... when it is possibile i do it :D
      • Wizzcat
brianfreud_: how come you want to do SPA merges in two batches?
      • brianfreud_
because some the AC isn't needed, the others, it'd retain the AC
      • Wizzcat
        AC?
      • brianfreud_
        artist credit
      • ie, to keep, say, the perhaps useful "Disney" in there somewhere, even if it's now actually in [unknown]. But no real need for that with "Orchestra" or "Ethnic Music Compilations".
      • Wizzcat
oh ok, but is the merge even visible on a release level?
      • I think I'm confusing something in regards to NGS, so never mind :p
      • drsaunde
lmao..here i was all set to nominate someone else when i got home, and someone beat me to it with another nomination (for someone different mind)
